Starting point is 00:01:10 Welcome to the campaign after the campaign. This is not another D&D podcast. Welcome back to the campaign. This is not another D&D podcast. Welcome back to the campaign. This is not another D&D podcast. Welcome back to Twilight's saying Torah. Twilight! Twilight's saying Torah! That was really good actually the bird call.
Starting point is 00:01:40 I thought so, yeah. Twink! Twink! Okay, it's too much now. Too much? You're too much. I'm your dungeon docent Emily expert joined by Brian Murphy. Yeah, there's too much, Penn. Come on, you know, if you're nice to the birds and you give them shiny trinkets, they'll give you stuff in return.
Starting point is 00:01:57 I know that, you don't have to mimic them, no, if anything you insult them, it's Frankie Penn has a lot of... You look nice today! And of course, co-waltender. Oh, from ugly dogling, the papa swan, and also all my blood is gone. It's me, Penny Fantasma. How's it going? And finally, Jake Hurwitz.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Feeling all alone in a dog cone. Maybe Fantasma. We shouldn't let him sleep in that cone. I think you might suffocate. Come on. Get your thing off of me! It's too complicated! And with that, we return one last time.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Do a liminal city at the crossroads of life and death. Where private investigators, Frankie, Penny, and Mavid Van Tasmau are just trying to collect the final spell component to reincarnate their deceased client. Last session, you recovered from your battle with the musically bewitched gazers, but as one lay dying on your carriage floor, it produced an encoded thought strand containing the final moments of its life. In a well-intentioned but misguided effort to hack the magical artifact, Tony Aiden.
Starting point is 00:03:07 I miss red and article that was about how to deal with thoughts trans, okay? Then you headed to an abandoned townhouse to explore the headquarters of living in harmony. Mavid scaled the exterior and spied a conversation between the were Raven, Shadow Mancer, and Puppet who attacked you earlier, and a mysterious woman. As your combatants pleaded for their lives, the woman retrieved a purple string to dulcimer from a painting, played a magical song, and de-animated your foes. When the room was finally empty, Mavid hopped in, stole mostly everything. Most of the stuff that don't matter. And the three of you returned home, where Penny finally passed the Gaser security footage.
Starting point is 00:03:54 Improved it in some ways, I imagine. Upon analyzing the footage, you learned the location of Jenna Veeves apartment, but also got a glimpse of her understudy, Ida Belvedere, picking the lock to it. You confronted Ida at Genevieve's apartment only to have Ida confess that it was she, who had been sending the threatening letters to Genevieve. The two were romantically involved in Ida wanted to run away together. Ida then shared a pile of blackmail letters she'd found written not to, but from Genevieve.
Starting point is 00:04:26 The letters were written to the head of living in harmony, accusing the collective of pretending to heal people when in fact it turned them on dead. Penny scoured the letters, found the name Trudea, and realized the purple strings of the dulcimer were likely the unicorn hair Genevieve was after. Armed with this information, the three of you planned to attend the masquerade the next night to steal the unicorn hair. On your way home, however, you saw Abel Miss Mabel's hut in disarray. You found a bruised and repentant Miss Mabel who told you Nico sent his fists to claim
Starting point is 00:05:03 Genevieve's body, then saw Penny's blood and decided the debt of a private investigator was more valuable to him after all. That's alright. That's not too bad. That's a good question. That should be for you. Yeah, it's true. They didn't even sniff my blood. I think Miss Mabel forgot she had it because I, the DM, forgot I had it. Yeah, you blood is like brown bad What's with that? I don't know and that's where you guys are now Frankie Penny
Starting point is 00:05:33 Mavid you Navigate the shadowy back alleys to your dilapidated carriage house Clutching the feathered masquerade masks Miss Mabel gave you. The eerie twilight of day is dawning. You've been out all night. A crow, the size of a rooster, perches on a rusty weather vein, and croaks its morning song.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Okay, how's it going? Mavi, give him a peanut. No, these are my nuts. I get your own nuts. Give you nice to the crow. He's gonna give you a bottle cap later. Yeah, no, what are you talking about? We could train him to send messages to us or something like that.
Starting point is 00:06:09 He doesn't need a fucking nut, man. I just give him one nut. Give him a nut. No, he's hungry. Don't cry for it. Drop it. It's crazy. You got enough peanuts for everybody.
Starting point is 00:06:18 Come on, you know what? Maybe you don't care. I don't have anymore. If you're not gonna give him a nut, then you do it. We're not letting you in the house if you don't give the burden on. It's fine. David shakes out a bunch of nuts. Need up your pig.
Starting point is 00:06:30 The crow stooped eyes dangerously close to your feet and the gobbles up the nuts. Stop, geez. I like them. And with that, you guys enter your dilapidated carriage house. Do you have anything that you would like to do before you go to bed for the night? I guess did anybody break in people always breaking in the or oh, yeah, let's check the windows
Starting point is 00:06:50 Yeah, give me an investigation check you guys did already Destroy the mirror that could have been a portal Right good. Yeah, not a great investigation. I wrote before so I got a 14. I got a net one You got a net one. I think I got a that one. Benny there are enemies everywhere. Oh jeez. You need to just shoot your fireball indiscriminately. That crow, that crow's in on it.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Whoa. I told you we shouldn't defend him. You're right, I'm sorry I didn't trust you my boy. Maybe I got a 26 though. 26, okay, maybe you by nature think everyone is out to get you You look around though and in this rare Reprieve you do feel safe here
Starting point is 00:07:32 You do not feel as though anyone is lying and wait David do you want to describe how you feel? Did you see anything or I? Feel oddly at ease Okay, you're twitching less than usual, which I like. Huh. Yeah, I think I need another coffee. We'll get some, we should all go to sleep. We got to be doing the Vantasmus make a pot of coffee before they go to sleep. Oh, absolutely. Yeah, sleepy coffee. Come on. Yeah, just half a half decaf. Half decaf You guys brew a half calf All right, everybody have your caffeine and let's get the beds a little bit
Starting point is 00:08:10 Oh, we're only gonna sleep until one or two because you don't want to completely throw off your rinse. Oh, no No, no, yeah, this is just nighttime thinking coffee. So you all take your half-caf coffee and retire to your respective rooms Can I sleep tight? I love you both. Yeah. I think Mavid actually, instead of going to his bedroom,
Starting point is 00:08:30 is gonna go take a nice hot bath. He's down to sleep there. Oh! Okay. All right, Mavid, don't leave it on. I'm gonna leave it on. I'm just gonna run the hot water for a little bit. Mavid, you step over shattered glass.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Geez, please. We could teach the crow to pick that up, honestly. You open up the window, the crow comes in and starts picking up the glass. Oh boy! Get out of the bathroom, Dad! And I see you crawl into this steaming hot bath. On your forearm, the bandage of the poultice, mists maple applied. Clinges weekly, in fact the humidity seems to be lessening some of the adhesive qualities to it. I submerge it in the tub just for a minute. You submerge it in the tub.
Starting point is 00:09:27 With this wet bandage clinging to it, you can see the scar forming underneath is sort of rough and scaly, ridged crocodile again. I think I pick at it, absent-mindedly. It's probably fine to just let it soak, it doesn't need to be wrapped up in a bandage every bit, everything. Oh, baby, it's going to undo the bandage entirely.
Starting point is 00:09:57 Okay, you rip this bandage off and soak this wound in the bathtub. As you go, the humidity of the bathtub becomes dark and almost brackish. Your wound tingles with the oxygen you are feeding it. You hear the crunching of bone and you hear. Feed me, Mavid. I will make you strong. What are you hungry for? Buddies.
Starting point is 00:10:39 Buddies? No. No, no. I am a kid. Can't hear you. But, but. I can't hear you super well, buddy. But, if you can't hear me, it is because the connection is distant, but with everybody you fell, it will get closer and louder.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Wow, okay, okay, yeah, yeah. Hey, tell you what, you got it. And with that commitment, your muscles contract and release and you feel in your mouth, your teeth getting pointier. Wow. Almost piercing the inside of your lip.
Starting point is 00:11:26 You now have a bite attack with which you are proficient. Ha ha ha! Holy shit! My snaggle tooth grew in! Ha ha ha! It's even longer than before! And three times a day you can use it to regain it, point's equal to the damage you do. Okay, I turn to the crow and say he's okay in there, right?
Starting point is 00:11:46 I don't eat the worry, yeah? Maybe it is fully submerged under the bathwater. And that's Mavid. Penny. That's Mavid, I guess. Penny, you retire to your bedroom. I'm assuming that the bedroom is where you have your laboratory. Yeah, it's kind of a communal bedroom workspace that there was a model train set,
Starting point is 00:12:11 but it's been shoved aside. I'd actually kind of like set it up to go in between all the rooms as like a messaging system. Right, but Frankie kept breaking the tracks. Right, yeah, the train would come back and the train would be all mangled, so it's just collecting dust now. And you've mentioned like trying to modernize Van Taz-Mohen-Sons investigation. I'm wondering like what do you think
Starting point is 00:12:33 that you've set up in this little DIY lab to help usher your father's old business into a more modern age? Well, I think you know, it's all about the fusion of forensics and magic. For me at think, you know, it's all about the fusion of forensics and magic. For me, at least, you know, that's a little bit of what I learned at Community College and what I picked up from various periodicals that I tried to keep up with. So I think there's probably a lot of like tinctures, powders, stuff for, you know, dusting for prints and whatnot. Just trying to keep up
Starting point is 00:13:01 with the cutting edge, but also, you know, there's like books of like runes and stuff that can be infused. I think they probably got like a prototype of the pistol that I use that shoots a firebolt, things like that. Kind of, you know, trying to synthesize magic and the investigative techniques. Yeah. Well, you return to this familiar laboratory. It's been a long day. You gave a quart of your blood for your son, which somehow managed its way into the hands of your enemy. But you also do have this puppet that you felt so curious about when it attacked I do see it. I think I like pick it up and look at it. I hold it almost as if it's a small child. You try to burp this lifeless puppet. Look at you. Wow. Kind of inspecting the joints and the way that they fit together. Okay, so as you inspect the joints and the ways they fit together,
Starting point is 00:14:09 give me an arcana check. Yeah, I make myself a piece of toast to settle my stomach because... Because of all the coffee? Yeah, all the coffee and the lack of blood. That's just going to be a 14. A 14 is enough. You inspect these joints. Oh, that's just gonna be a 14. A 14 is enough. You inspect these joints.
Starting point is 00:14:27 You essentially perform like a small puppet autopsy, sort of peeking inside what's going on. And inside you see that the dolls, limbs and joints are held together by a racne silk. A racne are spider folk from the Feywild, and they produce this super strong, silvery thread that can be woven as intricately as spider webs.
Starting point is 00:14:54 This silk is used for coin purses, clothing, like healing wounds. It's a multipurpose substance, but what it does better than anything else is conduct arcane magic. So it's an amazing conductor for magic. I knew it. I knew that that puppet was too nimble. Even with magical infusions, the fact that it was able to move and dance like that, there had to be something else going on. Yes.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Does it seem like I could infuse further spells or even a small amount of life into this puppet. I would say that your magehand is probably the most innately magical thing that you have. And there is a feeling that if you were to infuse sort of your magehand in this, you might be able to animate it in its own right. So you're saying that I could basically use my mage hand to puppet the puppet? Yeah. I think I practice this. I insert my mage hand and get dance a little bit and I kind of like put it towards the mirror and say, I made it all to go on, it's me. Even your puppet is practicing conversations to your salad.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Pretty cool, huh? Look at this. Hey, why don't we go get a burger or something? Yeah. As your Mage Hand Magic animates these strings, it takes hold in a way that is its own spell. With this, you have now learned the find familiar spell. Oh. I think I give the puppet the name that we would have gone with
Starting point is 00:16:37 if Mayvid was a girl, which is Dolores. Ha, ha, ha, ha. As you say Dolores, this puppet, it doesn't really speak, but it sort of like clacks at you with like a wordless wooden, sounds like a hollow xylophone or something like that. And it sort of dances for you a little bit.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Hey, go play music in there! Sorry, Dad. You're loving Dolory. And it sort of cuddles up on your bed, like a pleasant cat. And is there anything else you'd like to do? Well, I start thinking about tiny clothes to make for the puppet.
Starting point is 00:17:11 And then I shake those thoughts from my head because tomorrow is gonna be a big, big day. And I wanna make sure everyone's prepared. So I think the next thing I would love to do is to try and improve Mavid's ball bearings. Okay. I'm going to say since Mavid is naked in the bathtub, maybe he just carelessly threw his clothing outside of the bathrooms, you can go retrieve the ball bearings amidst all
Starting point is 00:17:38 the peanut shells from his pockets. See, okay. Not pocket is left. Ball pocket is right. Okay, yep, we go both mixed. So I grab a bunch of ball bearings. And I guess I want to try and make it so that they're extra slippery and the DC goes up or something.
Starting point is 00:17:53 Okay, cool, give me and our conch check as you work with these. Just in 11. I would say it doesn't work. Maybe it's all the peanut dust that's coating them but you can't seem to get through to manipulate these balls very. You get them back to baseline.
Starting point is 00:18:08 Yeah. You separate the peanuts from the balls. You successfully clean all the peanut dust off of it. I guess I'm just doing a nice thing for me. I'm not improving them. They're covered in dust as soon as they go back in the pants off. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:22 Anything else, or would you like to surrender to? Yeah, I think I probably start to pass out from the blood loss. I can't crawl my way into bed next to the puppet. Great. And then Frankie. I think Frankie does his normal thing, which is to tell everybody he's going to bed and then leaves the light on and smokes his pipe and you can see the smoke coming out from under the door. And he also, I'll say almost like he's a bad roommate playing darts or something. He has a throwing knife that he just throws into a beam on his wall that has a bunch of like slashes into it.
Starting point is 00:19:01 And then he has another knife that was like a dagger that his wife Lynette had, that he doesn't throw. He keeps it perfect. So he's got the one in his left hand that's her knife, just kind of like flipping it and looking at it. And then he's got his crappy one that he just throws into the wall over and over again. As you flip Lynette's dagger in your hand,
Starting point is 00:19:24 the hilt of it familiar to you at this point. You see the hilt of it is decorated with a sort of red poppy flower. You hear Atticus's words in your head as a favor to your late wife. Keep her name out of your mouth. And you feel in your stomach the remnants of the little death that you took just a dab of.
Starting point is 00:19:50 And a memory is needling at you. Do you? I dive in, yeah. You dive in? Yeah. In fact, I probably like, if I would have saved the vial, I'd try to take more. Ha ha ha ha. I'll say that there's not anything left. I probably like if I would have saved the vial I'd try to take more
Starting point is 00:20:10 I always say that there's not anything left. I desperately Trying to suit more. I'll lick it. You huff the fumes of that little death and you return to a moment You see in the corner of your bedroom this vanity with a basin where Lynette used to take the pins out of her hair after a night of dancing. And you remember a specific night, Lynette, smiling at you in the mirror as her hair curled by curl, falls to her shoulders, but with some mischief in her eyes. Hey Frank, she pulls a coin purse from her corset. I think it's time to start looking at places in the Feywild. She tosses you the purse, grinning at you.
Starting point is 00:21:01 It lands heavy in your hand. There's a lot of coin in here. I got a raised Frank. We're so close. I can taste it. You, me, pen, we're getting out of here. She takes the final pin out of her hair, which you now recognize is her dagger. She folds it gently into a hankerchief and she tucks it into a drawer. And she turns at you, beaming, with a hope that is so infectious. You forgot to question where all that money came from. Linette, of course you gotta raise you the best. They finally realize you worth. And I pull her in. I give her a big kiss.
Starting point is 00:21:54 Such a distant Frankie that no longer exists. I call for Penny. Penn, get in here, bud. We got great news. What, what's going on? Come here, my special little guy! Get over here! Oh God, why don't we just do perfect little family? Ain't nothing ever gonna change! Nothing's getting us down to Vantashmose!
Starting point is 00:22:14 I love you, my, I love you, Dad! Oh, I love you, son! Not! It's so simple! It ain't like simple, everybody! I'm just gonna do a cartwheel, okay? Oh, wow! Look at him go, man. Look at him go, where's my boy? He can do cartwheels better than anybody.
Starting point is 00:22:29 And then this beautiful memory dissipates, like the smoke from your pipe and your back here. Yeah. I look in the mirror and see myself looking back at me instead of Lynette, throw something over the mirror, and then I guess I'll inspect, look, give a good look at the knife or see if there's anything for, because now I'm starting to question everything and where this money came from. Do you want to give me an investigation check?
Starting point is 00:23:13 Yeah. 17. Holding it in your hand, do you realize it's actually more powerful than the dagger you've been using, which is actually kind of suspicious in its own right. Why would a dancer be packing more heat than a private investigator? And I've added Linette's dagger to your character sheet. Okay. So this dagger is a plus one bonus to attack and damage rolls. Yeah. It's a magic weapon and it has three extra properties to it.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Immediately after you use the attack action, you can enable one creature within 60 feet of you to use its reaction to make one weapon attack. Six. Immediately after you take the dash action, you can enable one creature within 60 feet of you to use its reaction to move up to its speed. Or immediately after you take the dodge action, you can enable one creature within 60 feet of you to use their
Starting point is 00:24:10 reaction to gain the benefits of dodge. Sweet. Wow. So it's that's cool. Better than the regular dagger you've been using. And I think also if you are investigating, you look to the drawer. Do you think that you've gotten rid of her stuff or do you think you just... No, I think I leave it untouched. I can't. So I think I don't even usually look at it. And only this memory is making me be like, did something happen to her? Was what happened to her not natural?
Starting point is 00:24:38 You look through the drawer. It's a lot of normal personal effects, some satin gloves, her hair ties, her perfume that you loved, that smelled like citrus and vanilla. But there is one thing that you don't recognize. There's a signet ring with a snake pressed into it. Hmm. I take the ring. Do I recognize this?
Starting point is 00:25:05 Give me a history check. Dirty 20. With a dirty 20, you would recognize this symbol to be of the Naga, which are sort of the snake folk that live in a brood on the outskirts of town. Hmm. Lynette, what did you get yourself into? Alright, I take the ring and I stay up all night. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha The next morning everyone else wakes up except for you. I eventually fall asleep sitting up on a bed.
Starting point is 00:25:48 And the next morning you guys wake up. Maybe you got the floor wet. Yeah well I fell asleep just a week. I told you to turn off the water. Give me a luck check to see if you ever turned the water off. I don't need to do that, I did not. Or maybe your skin's all pruny. Oh, come on.
Starting point is 00:26:08 Ah, shit. You're not supposed to soak your bandage either. Yeah, we gotta reapply this. And look at this. Oh, that does not look very good. Yeah, you guys did touch it. The scar is like, scaly, rude. Oh, good.
Starting point is 00:26:23 Oh, shit. Well. And you do say, maybe it's snaggle, good. Oh, shit. Well. And you do see Mavid's snaggle tube is looking prominent. Quit looking at my sky! Ha! Ha!
Starting point is 00:26:31 Oh, ha! We tried to touch it! Mavid, is there anything you want to tell us? No! Ha! Ha! Mika, you've particularly ghoulish this morning, Mavid. I just thought, it's just, it's just
Starting point is 00:26:43 because I'm so prony from the bath. Oh, okay, honey, bear. You do what you need to do. Don't call this morning, maybe. I just thought it's just it's just cuz I'm so prony from the bath. Okay, honey bear, you do what you need to do. Don't call me honey bear. Yeah, don't call him honey bear. He's a nasty little guy. Hey, you get it. Did anybody get a good night's sleep last night? Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:26:59 Yeah, me neither. Yeah. Alright boys, let's put on a pot of double calf. Yeah. Oh, that's actually, I'm realizing now that's let's put on a pot of double calf. Yeah. Well, that's actually, I'm realizing now that's what I put on last night. Oh, okay, yeah, I might explain it.
Starting point is 00:27:11 I didn't mind it. All right, let's get put on our best, which I think we already put on to go out last night. So let's keep the same clothes we had on last night, but put our masks on. And with the, this one mask, just, you know, just be normal, okay? Try to rain it in. You got it.
Starting point is 00:27:38 I wink and you can clearly see it through the eye hole. I've poked into the Swan head. And I have a Raven mask, right? You're a Raven mask, yeah. And what does Mavid have an owl mask? Oh my god. Oh All right, maybe behind the mask, right? Yeah, the first time you said it was kind of amusing You've been hanging out with other people that haven't heard it yet Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. At the party. Yeah, you wish this.
Starting point is 00:28:05 Your mother and your stepdad might give you a pity last, but you're not going to get in our house. You got to be a real comedian, all right? Give me some actual insight or something. Yeah. Hey, sorry. So you guys sued up anything else you want to do before you head to this party?
Starting point is 00:28:20 I guess give me some peanuts, Maven. There's none left. I gave them all to that freaking bird. You gave them all? We said to give some. We give them all away. You guys, I regret that. I regret that peanuts, maven. There's none left. I gave him all to that freaking bird. You gave him all. We said to give some. He gave him all away. You guys, I was very kind to you, maven. The crow is waiting at the doorstep,
Starting point is 00:28:31 like as if you've taught it that now it can come feed at your head. Come on. No, it's obsessed with us. OK. I'm going to make a mask out of you. It flies away. It flies away.
Starting point is 00:28:42 OK. All right. Let's get going. Yep. So you guys head out into the night. As you get closer to the townhouse, more passing through like the nicer parts of town, you see that there's almost a tide of foot traffic
Starting point is 00:29:00 and carriages that start to be heading in the same direction as you. In the past living in harmony was kind of secretive, but this is maybe more of a debut. A lot of the people that you're walking alongside seem like they might be first timers as well. There's like a...a giddy-ness. People aren't wearing their masks yet to walk, but you see people holding the masks,
Starting point is 00:29:21 see people whispering, wondering what's to come. Okay, oh shit, other people don't have the masks on yet. Oh shit. Should we get these off? I don't know, it's probably good to, well that was gonna look weird if we take it off. I would say it looks like a small thing with the doll. It's all conscious, all right, be confident, everybody.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Let's keep them on and maybe they'll put theirs on. And hide the puppet pen, you're making us look weird. Why are you bringing that? Yeah, why are you bringing it all to the party? We've got a real bond with it, don't worry. I'll put a mask on the puppet pen you were making us look weird. Why are you bringing that? Yeah, why are you bringing it all to the party? You've got a real bond with it, don't worry. I'll put a mask on the puppet. You've got a bond with the puppet? No, guys, this is like when people bring a guitar
Starting point is 00:29:53 to a party, I'll bring a puppet. I'll be the hit of the show. Yeah, famously, everybody loves a guitar guy and what they love more than that is a puppet here. As you guys are walking, a open woman says, can you use that? Can you make it dance? Oh, can I make it dance? Step back, step back everybody.
Starting point is 00:30:12 Okay, oh my head. Do we do like a performance? There's the good role. After all of those bad roles, I got all the peanut dust out of my system and I do a 26-per-form whole shit. A small crowd gathers. Frankie Gaspus. Maybe it's a tear.
Starting point is 00:30:34 Frankie gets emotional watching the puppet dance. Pity makes the puppet do a little cartwheel. Pity used to do. You do. Woo-hoo. Sorry, that's all right, man. That's all right. That's not bad.
Starting point is 00:30:51 A spider made my strings, but now I'm on my own. There is no whip for me. For I have flown, flown, flown. Yay! I didn't sound like a 26, but I have to be happy. I hope that it played out. But you have to treat it like one. You have to.
Starting point is 00:31:06 Okay, yeah, maybe weeps open. I've never been moved before. That was good. Yeah. Wow. Thank you guys. Kind of enlist to the envy of several other party goers on your way with this amazing display of puppetry. And you arrive at the townhouse.
Starting point is 00:31:26 The townhouse is brimming with festivity, well-dressed people, sequins, feathers, bedazzled masks. You guys actually feel quite underdressed comparatively. Oh shit. There is an autumnal bouquet of wet leaves and hearth smoke and spiced wine, candles light every window, singing and swooping from the awnings are moonweaver birds, which are these like shimmering birds,
Starting point is 00:31:56 the size of eagles that build nests from the web silk of giant spiders. And you can see they're building one hanging from the highest eve of the building. Feed the moon weavers. Let's get some wine. I'm right. I feel very out of place. Can we get a bunch of wine? My maiveth. You got to be nice to all the creatures. Yeah, we have to be nice to them. I'm off the giv them all nuts. Why don't I give every single creature? You didn't even have any nuts for your grandfather. I just got to get by that crow. I spitefully take some one.
Starting point is 00:32:26 Yeah, I'll say like in the exterior, there's someone greeting people with some spiced wine, sort of like the event is already beginning. You do see some guests who kind of look around confused, but then one of them will remember the past code and kind of get good and go, a couple of evening. And then the sort of illusion of vacancy is dispelled, same as it was for you guys. The Capo Alfini. Capo Alfini.
Starting point is 00:32:53 The Capo Alfini. Just pop it. And you see that there's even a valet to park carriages for the event. You guys see Ignatius, the tickets taker, from the theater is sort of directing carriages trying to sort of double park them. Oh, okay, Ignatius, hey. I didn't expect to see you all here. Oh, sorry, watch the edges. Sorry, I'm on the clock. Okay, yeah, yeah, of course, of course. I'm the valet. Yeah, no, that's great.
Starting point is 00:33:26 That's awesome. I'm an owl. Yeah. I was gonna say, who are you? Ah! Ah! All right, all right. We've done enough with the puns.
Starting point is 00:33:37 We're trying to reinforce the new- It's good. I hadn't heard it sit back to me before. Oh my God. Maybe you got to take after your father a little bit more with this genius puppeteering. I see what you can do with the puppet. I'll never live up to that.
Starting point is 00:33:53 Oh, my boy. Oh yeah, look at that puppet. That's pretty cool. It's pretty good. Listen, we got a couple people here that we're not exactly friends with. And just in case we need to make a hot exit, it'd be nice to know that we have a friend on the outside.
Starting point is 00:34:09 You definitely got a friend of me, yeah. All right, well just to confirm that, I bet you you're not getting paid that much tonight, because you know, points to the building, these fancy types, they don't really value, you know, people like us. It's funny you say that because honestly, I'm doing this kind of like an internship. They said I could do my fireworks display later. Oh, my work's this funny.
Starting point is 00:34:34 Hey, yeah, I'm doing this so I can sort of try and start my fireworks. I'm doing my fireworks. Do fireworks. So you're not getting paid for two jobs is what that sounds like. I'm not getting paid. And but here am, I'm parking some really fancy carriages. He points and you see that there is the Dowager of the Lunari nobility. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:54 Her carriage is here. You see a really exotic carriage that is pulled by a griffin and it hangs a banner from a university that is a couple days ride north of here. Oh, okay. Well, so it does feel like there are some movers and shakers here. I'm not making anything. Listen, I mean, if my fireworks business were to catch the attention of some of these fancy people I might be working a garden party or yeah I think I think I think it's a laid-home place bright a bright future I know you like a lot literally a bright future because of the fireworks and one we got paid ahead for this job and maybe if you want to help us out we we'd cut you in. And I'm going to slip Ignatius a platinum.
Starting point is 00:35:48 What I need you to do is that griffis. Excuse me, I think you dropped a platinum in my hand. I can't do it. You should give me a cup or something. No, no, no, no. Can you break that or something? What's the do it? We're not going to break it.
Starting point is 00:36:03 Yeah, break it. Give us change. Maybe. Hey, maybe it. give us change. Me, maybe, take a lap. Right? You know what? Maybe it shoves his hand in his pocket and walk through. This is platinum cheese always. God, my grandson's right. You don't know.
Starting point is 00:36:17 I look, if you could park that griffin' mount, a little closer to that window. And I'm gonna point to the window on the side of the townhouse, to where that office was, where we know the unicorn hair to be. As you see Ignatius cradles this platinum. This is the most money he's ever seen in his life.
Starting point is 00:36:39 Even the little squirrel on his shoulders, like reaching for it, and he's almost like greedily keeping it to himself. Give me a persuasion check. You can obviously do it with advantage because of this platinum. Nice. Ooh, pretty good rolls, pretty good rolls. 24. Wow. Beautiful. You see Ignatius Winks and says, you got a boss. Who did the coach mean for the Griffim because we actually got to do sort of double-parking
Starting point is 00:37:08 a different way, y'all? And he goes back and he starts reorganizing the carriages. Oh, and if I, so it was a Lunari noble that was in the room, right? That we saw with all the mouths on our neck. Yes, yeah. And if some of those carriages were to get boxed in with a double parking situation. You got it, boss.
Starting point is 00:37:33 He literally creates a puzzle whereby this griffin mount has like an easy exit and the Lunari carriages are boxed in. Great. This is great. And I will say, you know, we're very excited to see your fireworks display. easy exit and the Lunari carriages are boxed in. Great. And I will say, you know, we're very excited to see your fireworks display. If you were to set it off a little early, I don't think anybody would be upset about that.
Starting point is 00:37:53 He takes out what you guys see our refurbished fireworks. Oh, you just got him right on you. Okay. That's some danger in for your refurbished. What did you put the gunpowder like back in? Yeah, you can get secondhand fireworks like if they didn't work the first time I'm okay. I'm gonna need you to be careful Okay, yeah, I mean you let me know when you want to see a show because you're the only one pay me here tonight Yeah, yeah, you got it. Yeah, we might just you you might hear a shaman from a window or yelling or hearing the angry mob or something like that.
Starting point is 00:38:29 Okay, so which of those me and I should... You know, if shit hits the fan, put on a firework show. Yeah. He's the loot to you with a refurbished firework. Alright, we got one friend. Two of you got the squirrel. Drew. Alright, everybody, remember,
Starting point is 00:38:47 we're trying to do this with as little drama as possible. So we're trying to get into that room that Mavid was in. Yeah. I think we're gonna wanna probably go to this party. I don't think we're gonna be able to easily sneak in that window. That is a good point.
Starting point is 00:39:00 So I suggest you to the room up there. You actually see that this townhouse, though there is all this festivity now and it seems very warm and welcoming. It is on high alert. You see that these sort of assassin vines that were running up the side of the building are tripled. It's covering the window in a way that you couldn't climb into the window. And you even see humming like a drone around the building. They've hired a spectator, which is like a security gaser, but more intense. Okay, so that's maybe more of an escape less of an in. You can assume that your theft last night did not go unnoticed.
Starting point is 00:39:43 Okay. Especially considering that all you left was the urn. All right. And likely not even on the mantle. Okay. I suppose we want to make a distraction of some sort and then maybe Mavid, you can try and get into that room and use your fast fingers.
Starting point is 00:39:59 Oh, I also made it do everything. Jesus, we did the youngest. I'm trying to give you a chance to shine my son. All right. You've got such potential, and I really want to see you do your stuff. Yeah, whatever. Yeah, all right.
Starting point is 00:40:13 It's with the distraction. Everything is very quiet. I don't know that we needed, you don't need a distraction unless things have already gone wrong. So let's go very quietly. We just scope it out, we find our opening and then we send Mavid.
Starting point is 00:40:29 Okay, Mavid, you get the unicorn hair and then we get out of there. All right, all right, boys. All right, sounds like a play. You guys wanna head into this party? Okay. You enter the townhouse. There is a string quartet playing.
Starting point is 00:40:45 The first floor is like a ballroom. There's a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. A bunch of people are dancing sort of a stiff looking lunaari waltz. One thing that you do notice is there isn't like the undead contention here. You don't see vampires, you don't see ghouls, you don't see zombies, you see moon elves,
Starting point is 00:41:07 you see deep nubs, you see humans, you see Asimar, you see Faye, but the living is what's represented at this party. And if it weren't for what you guys know, you wouldn't even notice that underneath, there's an undercurrent of the staleness of undead that's been heavily perfumed Yeah, it's gonna say do people have things like this diamond that seem to be hiding their
Starting point is 00:41:33 Undeadness when you look around you can see like there's a lot of people who were invited to this party Mm-hmm, and this is kind of their first time coming to this townhouse Fraternizing with this, the people that you see from living in harmony are sort of like when you first met Genofy, you've caked in makeup, caked in perfume, compensating or obscuring or hiding. Got it, so more people that bought into this, quote unquote, cure that turns them undead.
Starting point is 00:42:02 Yeah, but also everyone is wearing masks too. Right. Oh, good. And sort of feathered masks. So there's like, there are some people that are kind of like you recognize because of certain features. Like, you see in video somewhere because of her wings. Some people are really not trying to hide who they are.
Starting point is 00:42:20 There's like the Lunari Dowagers, like speaking really loudly, not trying to, she likes to be seen. Right, could I do a history check about the Lunari? Yeah. So I feel like, you know, we've obviously had dealings with them, their movers and shakers in twilight'sing Torum, so I would know a little bit. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:40 Yeah. Yeah. Ha, ha, ha. The smalled wine is going to my head, that's a natural one. You've never met an aloonari before ever. What's going on with those people's ears? They're so long elves Right, pal, you really impressed me with the puppet. Don't I'm sorry
Starting point is 00:42:59 Yeah, you've lost it. I don't know Does anyone want to do like sort of perception check or are you looking for anything on this first? I'm looking around, first things first, I'm trying to see if there's a path for us to get upstairs. And I'm seeing what's in our way. And then I also want to see, yeah, I just want to see most kind of powerful people in the room. And I also want to clock, I guess I have this snake's
Starting point is 00:43:22 signet with me, see if anyone from that is here. Okay. Jesus Christ, natural one. Okay. Okay. I think the mask is too big. I'm trying to look around. I can't see a goddamn thing.
Starting point is 00:43:39 It's shifted, that it's shifted. Yeah, I know, but it looks better this way. I think you need to put your glasses on outside the mask Oh, no, that's gonna be too much. I can't wear my glasses if I wear the mask If you're not wearing your glasses, you're not gonna be able to see god damn it You guys never been to a party before you got a blend in And maven with all of the confidence of being behind a mask is gonna start moving and dancing very bizarrely There's your hands way up high
Starting point is 00:44:04 Backing around like an owl. Oh no, putting his arms behind his back like he's flapping with. He's acting like he's getting really low, bobbing around. See? I'm gonna dab my beak at like a cheese plate if there's any kind of buffet. He's fun.
Starting point is 00:44:20 He's giving me a performance, Jack, for this display. I also while I'm doing this, I wanna see if I can clock anybody who's watching me, kind of like, you know, somebody who's been tasked with like, hey, just make sure everything goes normal, doesn't go. Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, so for my performance, I got a four.
Starting point is 00:44:40 Yeah. Oh. It just hurt my... Master's drive. He knocked over the cheese plate. For my perception, I got a 17. Okay, so you make an absolute scene. There's just everybody else's dancing so stiffly.
Starting point is 00:45:00 Literally, the string quartet, one of them breaks a string. They're so distracted by what you're doing Try to keep up musician. Oh, he's so unique The answer to his own beat my son, but with a 17 you do notice a high-elf Mage not from Twilight St. Torum is eyeing you may have it Yeah, who wouldn't be.
Starting point is 00:45:28 And I think that with this scene you've put on, he's just going to go ahead and approach you. This high elf comes over to you in stodgy wizard robes, comes over to you holding a malt wine. Oh hello boy. I can't help but notice that beautiful necklace around your neck. How do you do sir? Yes. Wow, look at that a young man with manners. Mavid bows.
Starting point is 00:45:59 I'm very impressed with your decorum. Now ask, I recognize the necklace around your neck. A long time since I've seen the more fray gone, the collarbones of the living. You don't say. How did you manage to acquire such a rare artifact that is unusual to be amongst the living? Oh, sir, I don't think it would be very wise. I pointed my owl mask. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha What would I say to him? I say, D shell yourself and let me consume you. Why not indeed? Here you go. Well, I have to ask you, I come here for work
Starting point is 00:46:56 from university, just a couple days right north of here. You don't say, there seems to be a knack for acquiring unusual artifacts and I have a desire to acquire unusual artifacts. What are you looking for? I just wanted to get on your radar. If you are, if you're looking for another revenue stream. Maybe you and I could establish a relationship of sorts. And he hands you a business card shaped like a dove.
Starting point is 00:47:35 Oh, shantai! David kisses his hand, backs away. FLY MY SON, FLY! From the nest, leap, you've done it! You walk away, and there's a man stairs after you with wonder at what he just encountered. I bought my beak my entire way back. That's fucking humiliating. Maybe it's the only one who got any kind of in here. What do you, what do you hand you? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha guard. So what's his name? What's on the card? Yeah, you read it. You got eyes don't you? It says Magnus Thebes and he is on the board of Glade Home University. Oh, which you would know, Penny, because you did, you went to Twilight Community College.
Starting point is 00:48:36 Right. You would know that this is the premier destination for arcane studies. Oh, Glade Home is a top citer. All right, hey, Mavid. Maybe you see if that guy needs anything at this party, and if maybe he has an invisibility or something like that, anything that can help off the skate, you specifically. But the rest of us, too, might be nice. See if he wants anything here. Get a little something for him.
Starting point is 00:49:02 Get a little something for us. That's right, yeah. Man, man, Jesus, we've got to gonna do everything. Leave it clocks his way back Was curious um I did some stuff around this party that I think If you like this necklace, I think you'd be very interested in what I can acquire Yes, that your service. You know where it's at?
Starting point is 00:49:28 There's one thing that I'm curious about. Yeah? Yes, there's this at. Rumor. This painting that sort of functions as an extra-dimensional space and sort of a window into the ethereal plane. Oh, sexy! Sexy indeed, my boy. I couldn't agree.
Starting point is 00:49:56 You think he's saying? I don't know they're getting on real well. And I'll confess I've been working with the Unari, but they just keep raising the prices, raising the prices. And I'd love a contact here who was more amenable. Oh, yeah, well if you're looking for somebody like that, you know who the call. Oh boy. Jesus Christ, did you hear that, who?
Starting point is 00:50:27 I know he made a fucking stupid joke. I'm gonna go over, I'm gonna grab him. I'm gonna grab him. No, no, no, no, that, let him work, let him work. All right. He's finally doing something. Fantastic wordplay, fantastic. God, I'd love to bring you to the university.
Starting point is 00:50:40 I think you'd be a hit. Oh, interesting. Well, if you get your hands on something interesting, let me know. We pay handsomely. Yeah, well, you know, I might be able to do a little better if you can, you know, give me some kind of... Booster of... Booster drugs. Yeah, you got any straight edge.
Starting point is 00:51:01 Yeah, anything. I'm straight edge. I'm just making it all hard. Sorry. Except for mold wine, the only thing I drink. Maybe you want to cast a little invisibility on me or something, I could go scoot around upstairs. Okay, okay, okay. I don't think I could do it just directly out in the open here, but I think on the second floor there's some, well this is, good sound really, indeed. But I think there's some sort of like canoeing areas that we kind of scorned you privately and I could just cast
Starting point is 00:51:32 a spell on you. I'll be honest, I have a wife, so there's nothing weird about this intro. I see you as a sort of a surrogate son right now. I feel that for sure. Yes, so they can tell us this guy, I don't know why. They're getting on real well. Again, he doesn't respect us like he does this random person. Oh, is it the clothes? Is it the robes? I think he's just a rotten kid. I thought, say that.
Starting point is 00:52:00 Yeah. Okay, well, you know, when you want, when you want to, I'll make my way up to the second floor and when you want it, you let me know. Alright, I'll see you up there. Okay. Cheers. Cheers.
Starting point is 00:52:12 And then... Cheers! Cheers! Bottoms up! Bottoms up! Okay, yeah, we'll finish it. We'll finish it. You jugs his mold wine at your cash.
Starting point is 00:52:21 Maybe it polishes his office well. And wanders up to the second floor. All right. What, Maven, you got a new dad? Do you think you're better than us? You told me to go talk to this dad. I just talked to the guy. You said talk to the guy. You said do it.
Starting point is 00:52:31 I'm not, Joel. It's not. It's not. I'm not, Joel. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not.
Starting point is 00:52:37 It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. visible whatever so so I just gotta go upstairs to the canoeing area
Starting point is 00:52:51 But he said it's not like that. It's not like that. It's not like that. Okay, are you sure? I Don't know We're all gonna go up to the canoeing area so we know first hand that it's not like that cuz me My dad and my grandpa Suspicious if we all go up to the canoeing area together. We got it. We got a fine place. I don't want to go down alone. Look, maybe you go up, you get the spell cast on you. Me and Penn will kind of hang out down here near the stairwell.
Starting point is 00:53:16 We'll run up if something goes wrong. And if you could just get whatever you need to get up there, while you're invisible, get that unicorn here, and just like come back down here and we'll make an exit. That's right. All right, great. I'll have the message can't trip going.
Starting point is 00:53:30 If that man does anything on tour, do let me know and I will come right in then I will stalk him. Jesus. I'm right in the jaw. I'm 22. 22. It's a big world out there, Mavid.
Starting point is 00:53:41 I'm a lot of the worry, okay? Okay. All right. Mavid's gonna go to the second floor, but you guys are gonna stay on the first floor. Why don't you sneak around? Yeah, you're still kind of young. You can sneak around. Yeah, I'm bad at sneaking around.
Starting point is 00:53:56 So I'll go up to the canoeing area by myself, as you do. Mavid, why don't both of you guys just sneak up there and you can meet the guy and get the invisibility cast on you. Penn, you just hide out there and I'll be the only one walking up there and it won't be weird. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:15 Do I need to sneak? Are people going up and down the stairs? People are going up and down the stairs. There's a staircase leading up to kind of like a landing that goes into almost like a darker, more dimly lit room that has, it's almost like another up to kind of like a landing that goes into almost like a darker more dimly lit room that has. It's almost like another level to the party. It has just a different energy.
Starting point is 00:54:31 This is very stodgy waltz. You can see up there that like cigar smoke is pouring out. Probably more of an entertaining parlour sort of vibe up there. All right. Maybe I'll go into the parlour and just light my pipe and see what I can learn up there. And yeah. I'm gonna do what I do best. I just go to the bathroom upstairs
Starting point is 00:54:51 and send message cantrips to Maiden. Okay, great. You guys ascend the staircase to the second floor. It's cosier, like I said. It's like an entertaining parlor with tables for cards, fringed curtains leading to private love seeds for canutaline. There's a sign that says, please no solo canutaline.
Starting point is 00:55:14 It's fine, I'm just here to talk. Up here, there is a small stage and performers are sort of taking turns hopping into jam. There's even like a poll that like a few dancers are kind of taking turns using. It's much more of like a burlesque boudoir up here. All manner of cigar pipes, sigarillo, rolled tobacco are creating this hazy atmosphere and the attendees up here are younger, little drunker, and the air is kind of like more charged with pheromones. All right, well, I'll play some cards and kind of ruin this party by being around all the young people. But either, honestly, none of us will enjoy it. I don't want to be around them, they don't want to be around me, but I do like playing cards. And you do actually see the staircase to the third floor. Great. But there is a
Starting point is 00:56:08 pill woman in a half-ed-address sort of standing guard. But she looks annoyed. She's kind of houting, picking her nails. There's a drowish man who seems to be chatting with a woman, a drowish man who seems to be chatting with a woman and she's like watching it like a hawk. Oh, I think I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll approach her. Okay. Hey, you, uh, you look a little bored up here. You play cards or? Yeah, yeah, I play cards. She immediately goes into a mode that she's putting on a show of trying to flirt with you, but it's very performative. Yeah, that's what's your name. My name?
Starting point is 00:56:52 That's so funny. You don't, we don't gotta do this. It's just, I'm trying not to look. I'm here with a bunch of people that honestly, they're a bit much. Could you do me a favor? Okay. My boyfriend is talking to a girl over there.
Starting point is 00:57:07 Oh. And if you could just act really interested in me and maybe do it loudly, maybe I could get his attention. Oh, this is too much. I'm at my post, I'm not allowed to leave. Okay, yeah. Oh, it's been so funny.
Starting point is 00:57:24 Thanks, yeah, um, oh, it's been so funny. Thanks. Yeah. So you like standing in the hallways generally? I would have ever I have to do. I have to do. Right. What is, uh, why, why don't you just go talk to, why don't you just go talk to? Yeah, because there was a break in last night, so I don't get to enjoy the party. Right, but look, let me tell you something. That somebody who's been young and in love, okay? And Frankie gets weirdly emotional. She absolutely meets you there, yes? Yeah, you gotta chase it while you have it,
Starting point is 00:57:56 because it ain't gonna be around forever. It isn't? And one day you're gonna wake up, and you're gonna look in the mirror, and you're gonna see this looking back at you, and I pull up my mask and show my eye bags. Oh my god. And everything's gonna look in the mirror and you're gonna see this looking back at you and I pull up my mask and show my eye bags And everything's gonna be different. Did you even fucking sleep last night? No, well, I did But I was sitting up and it was not good and we had double calf instead of half calf You're saying everything I'm feeling but I'm like assigned to work this post
Starting point is 00:58:21 So I would really can't I could get kicked out right, let me tell you something as somebody who worked really long hours. Yeah. If I could take it all back and spend more time with my family, I would, you know, you're choosing your job over your life. I am. You are. You are. Yeah. And it looks like they're getting on really well and I could tell you guys have something really healthy and nice
Starting point is 00:58:45 I do you do yeah, no, it's all good three weeks. Oh, yeah Well if there's already problems now, you know the but the roads that are bumpy at first Yeah, you're going uphill now. It's gonna be all downhill in the future What downhill in that it's easy not downhill and that it's bad Okay, look you're gonna let him go and then you're gonna you're gonna be standing in hallways, standing guard your whole life, but really what you're guarding is your heart. Oh my god, you're right. And you need to be able to give it away. He's not right. Yeah. Give me a persuasion, me a persuasion. That's 20.
Starting point is 00:59:26 Yes! Okay, this has to have good repercussions. Okay, you know what, here, take this. She takes from her belt a key. A key ring and just hands it to you. I'm fucking done. I'm done. I'm done working. I'm gonna enjoy
Starting point is 00:59:45 the party because it's my party too. All right. Well, you watch my post for me. Of course. Yeah. So much. And she walks off and gets into a toxic conversation. Starting point is 01:01:26 for got. About three years ago in the height of the pandemic, I created a PlayStation online account so I could play Fall Guys online with some friends. I then proceeded to never, ever play Fall Guys ever again. It's a fun game, there's nothing wrong with Fall Guys, but my wife and I had a baby shortly after, and I really did not have time to play video games for a while. Fast forward to last month when I looked at my bank account, and just now realized I've been paying for the PlayStation Online service this entire time.
Starting point is 01:01:58 If you've ever lived through an experience like this, where you've paid for subscription, and then your Swiss cheese hole-filled brain instantly forgot about it, then you need Rocket Money. Thanks for listening. Enjoy the show. Alright, Mavid, get this bell cast on you. Alright, yeah, I'm going, I'm going! Mavid you ascend to the second floor, you pass through this sort of entertainment parlor and you see beyond a fringed curtain the distinctive wingtip shoes of the man that you
Starting point is 01:03:20 made a small deal with. Guess who? Guess who? Guess who? Oh, boy. It's me. Boy, yeah, it's me. Come in, come in, come in. Okay.
Starting point is 01:03:30 Maybe this is Penny on the comms. This is Penny. This is your dad on the message can't trip. Just letting you know we're at the party together. It's about probably close to 10 p.m. I'm just letting you know that I'm here and I love you. Someone's knocking on the bathroom door. Dude, how are you doing in there?
Starting point is 01:03:48 Take it my time, it's a party. And me, that I see you walk back. Okay, so just be clear, this is a investment. I cast invisibility on you. You get me the painting. Yeah, no problem. I know exactly where it is Fantastic
Starting point is 01:04:07 And he holds his hand up to you cast invisibility on you now You didn't specify whether you wanted regular invisibility or greater invisibility So why don't you give me either a luck check or kind of a persuasion check to see If this high high level mage hears invisibility and naturally goes for the most powerful kind. You know what? Maybe it actually is kind of persuasive. So make sure you give me the real thing sir. That's a 23. Goddamn, so convincing. This mage for whom a fourth level spell is nothing he casts that for breakfast casts arcane
Starting point is 01:04:52 Magic that feels more powerful than anything you've ever been around Whoa, and you fucking disappear Holy shit Well, it's good stuff, right boy? More of that game from me. Maybe the blocks away like, woozly. Hahaha. Maybe this is your father's, everything okay? Everything's great.
Starting point is 01:05:12 Oh my God, I never felt like this before. Oh my God, I gotta go show grandpa. And you can walk over to Frankie. Frankie has within that 20 procured a set of keys that will likely bypass whatever other hurdle might have been in your way. I'm looking for evidence of my goon grandson bumping into walls or something, even though he's invisible. Yeah, maybe devil-made care is stomping over.
Starting point is 01:05:39 People can hear you. People can hear you. And invincibility spell cast. People can hear you. People like he has an invincibility spell cast. People can hear you. No, no, no, don't get giggled. Stop giggled. What are you talking about? It's not a silent spell.
Starting point is 01:05:51 Who can see me? No one can see if they can't see you. But you gotta, it's not. They have no idea I'm over here. I laugh, it's your say, it's pierces. You hear a couple party goers be like, is this townhouse haunted? I like hear airie giggling.
Starting point is 01:06:06 Boo! Ah! Oh my god, I think it is. You're lucky we're on the dumb floor with young people. All right, so what do you want me to do? Well, I gotta do, I got this key for you, all right? Just go up in the room, you get what we need to get, and then let's get out of here.
Starting point is 01:06:21 You wanna eat the eels? Uh, no, no, no, I'm good. I'm good. Thanks for asking, though. That's usually you just grab whatever you want. Uh, yeah, look. Uh, take the key. I'm learning.
Starting point is 01:06:33 Yeah, go do your thing. All right. Yeah. Maybe this is your father. I'm running the comms from the bathroom. Ha, ha. So if you need anything, if you need any support, just let me know.
Starting point is 01:06:41 Uh, I need you to be my eyes up there, all right? Two people are knocking out, dude. Oh, I'm sorry The first time I've ever been shrimp I've never been shrimp before Shrimp did this to you It's okay. I'm using the first full bathroom. I just curse shrimp's name shrimp Shrimp could you hey? we hear it in our brains, apparently. Great, so you palm into your invisible grandson's sweaty little fist, the keys, and we've it, you walk up the staircase.
Starting point is 01:07:19 I won't make you roll like any kind of stealth check because the guard has been neutralized. Maybe it's gonna chuckle very, very, very quickly. Almost if you're seated. Stuffed chuckle. All you can hear is this wheezing breath as he approaches the storm. And yeah, I'll enter this locked room. Great. You slide the keys into the lock. No need to pickpocket. Frankie, crit to persuade this guard to head away. So you click it, you create the door open,
Starting point is 01:08:01 you enter, and it is the office that you spied on last night, but it's dark. There's no fire to light it up. And as you walk in, closing the door behind you, you hear something familiar from the shadows. Let it dead dead dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo you, he looks around you. I know some blints here. You open the door. Any takes his little performing cane, any swipes it in your general direction. You know, it kind of bugs me, because tonight is supposed to be my biggest performance yet. He swipes it again in your general direction. So if you don't show your face, or better yet, maybe just peacefully leave.
Starting point is 01:09:19 Swipes it again. I might have to call today up here. Okay, I'm out of here. Maven runs over, opens the door, and slams the stays in the room. Oh! Okay. Give me a deception check. That's a 23.
Starting point is 01:09:43 He couldn't even hit that. He got a 7. Yes! Yeah, that's right! Get out of here! And then you see he goes to an earpiece. Trudeia? There was something weird up here.
Starting point is 01:09:58 But don't worry, I handled it. You keep working the crowd. You keep working the crowd. Okay. Maybe my son is everything okay up there? No, no it is not. I am in a room within a long skeleton. The one that you guys, you know, make best friends with and find an over the house.
Starting point is 01:10:22 Is he working on his routine? How does it look? Very scary. Now that he thinks no one is there, he's going through almost like actor warm-ups. M-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m of an actor and you won't be dancing and singing for drunken strangers anymore. You'll have eyebrows and lips with witch to a moat. You're gonna take the stage. You're gonna take the stage. I'm just fully on his side. I don't know what to say. She's a whiz, that's good. Okay, alright. I'm going to exit the bathroom finally. rendezvous with Frankie
Starting point is 01:11:05 Something's going on up there. Do you want to head up? Do I want to head up? Can Mavid handle it? I believe in him. I know he's got what it takes. I'm confident. Well, I don't know that I believe in him necessarily, but I do think that it's time he tried something so Here's the thing your son even him necessarily, but I do think that it's time he tried something. So here's the thing. Your son is loud.
Starting point is 01:11:36 I think if anything went really, really wrong, I think we would know. Why don't you kind of sneak past me and you can go kind of halfway up there. And if shit hits the fan, you pop out. Once I see you go and I'll go. All right. But I think I don't want to, I took over for that lady over there at point to the woman having a fight with a boyfriend. Yeah, yeah. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:11:55 Melt sound from everyone. Even the girl that was being talked to is like crying, being like, I don't want to be a part of this. OK. Yeah. OK. So things are kind of a mess down here. And yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:07 Here's what I'm gonna do. Just so that nobody comes up to stairs as well, I'm gonna create a little distraction. I'm gonna send Dolores, which is the name of giving to the puppet. Kind of similar to your ex-wife saying. That's what we did all. What does pretend Edgar?
Starting point is 01:12:24 No, no, no, no, she's Dahlia. This is Dolores. This is total, oh, I see it now. I weird it all. That's pretty n****. No, no, no, no. She's Dalia. This is Dolores. This is total, oh, I see it now. I see it now. Okay, I'll call her Dory to make it a little less confusing. Okay, I'm going to send Dory the puppet sliding down the banister. She's going to land on the landing and start doing a little show for everybody, but I'm
Starting point is 01:12:41 going to also cast the snare spell through Dory so she can be laying a trap at the bottom of the stairs in case anybody comes up while she's putting on this show. Yay, great. So you have all these party goers who are just having the time of their life because they think that it's haunted.
Starting point is 01:12:59 And then they see this puppet slide down this ancestor and start dancing. and they see this puppet slide down his master and start dancing. Give me a performance check for Dory, which she's already impressed some of the party goers, so that will lower the Tuesday. Myself included, I'll do my bonus action help action by being way over the topic, excited about it.
Starting point is 01:13:21 I mean, it's just, it's brilliant. It's brilliant. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, how do you not respect it? Dory lands, cur I mean, it's just, it's brilliant. It's brilliant. Yeah, yeah, yeah. How do you not respect it? Dory Lanz, Kurt Season says, I used to be real. That's haunting. Jesus Christ, that's three and a four.
Starting point is 01:13:39 But, but I do add a plus nine to performance. So 13. So it's middling. So we, they're a team, like a couple people kind of like it, but mostly people are like, it's kind of like a child's toy at an adult's party. It's kind of weird, right? They can't appreciate it yet.
Starting point is 01:13:56 They're in that window, they're in like their 20s. If you think they're better than us. Dory says, it's not ironic, it's just a sincere. They don't know how to be sincere. Appreciation of a sincere. They don't know how to be sincere. Appreciation of the arts. They don't know how to be sincere, Penn. It effectively moves the crowd away from Dory again. That's actually good.
Starting point is 01:14:15 Oh yeah, so Dory is doing a little dance, but secretly laying out a snare trap. Great, okay, so there's a snare at the bottom of the stairs. Also, Mavid, is there anything you want to do in there? The skeleton is doing a theater warm-up, streaming of his big return to the stage. She wants to take a rest. She wants to take a rest. Can I just like plot out the room? Like, I know that I want this dulcimer with a
Starting point is 01:14:37 unicorn hair. Which is in a painting. Right. Which is in a painting. So I guess I want this, I essentially want this painting. Does it seem like something I could grab off the wall and get out the window, or is it large enough that that's gonna be tough? You see out the window that there are a bunch of these vines, so it will be tougher than last night. You may have to get rid of some of these vines to get out.
Starting point is 01:15:03 And also the painting is pretty cumbersome, so you might need two people to hold it. Okay, is there anything like a big drapery, something that I could surprise the skeleton with and kind of neutralize it? Yeah, I mean, this is like Victorian Budwar theme. There are drapes hanging for no reason. I think maybe it's just gonna wait for the right moment and try to
Starting point is 01:15:27 pounce on this guy, surprise him, and just wrap him up in crits. Like a hog time with a velvet curtain? Yeah, because if you punch him in, I feel just resort to a bag of bones. Okay, great. You know, he's doing a little dancing, he's doing a little theater warm-up, he's like walking around, just kind of like running his cane along a radiator, just making noise, kind of bored. So maybe it is just gonna lay in wait
Starting point is 01:15:53 until Edgar goes near the windows and then he's gonna giggle to himself and say, Hey Edgar, that's cringe for you! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Okay! Okay. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 01:16:05 Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 01:16:13 Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 01:16:21 Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. But the second that is a 20 dirty Okay, with this advantage his was a 12 so you successfully throw this curtain over this guy What are you doing Trudea get up here get up here? I'm so stuffing satin and velvet in his mouth As soon as he calls for Trudea, what post-guitel reporting up is Trudea. Edgar, what are you doing today is the most important day.
Starting point is 01:16:52 Make it frozen, absolutely frozen. Oh shit, oh shit. Do we hear anything at this point? Yeah, you definitely hear a scuffling of curtains and whatnot. Okay, all right. And Edgar is thrashing around in this curtain, still held by you. That, some with God meet today.
Starting point is 01:17:12 And she looks at Edgar and she says, Edgar, I see no one. Tonight is a big night not just for me, but for you, you are my demonstration with which I will ensnare the money and the power of other mages now get in line and stop getting caught in the curtains! And she goes over to rip off the curtain from Edgar, I'm gonna have a Roneroll initiative. Okay.
Starting point is 01:17:40 Okay. 16, and 8 for Maven. Oh, Penny, get it together. That's a net one. Oh my god You're freezing you're freezing you heard the scuffle and your froze Should I let him do it on his own should be like no now that we had a scuffle that was the point we're a scuffle He did his thing hopefully whatever that is now. I'm sucking guessing his not squealing He'd be squealing if it was really bad. That's a good point, that's a good point.
Starting point is 01:18:06 Help me! Okay, oh he squealin'. He squealin'. I'll cover it, mate. No, I'll cover it. I brought this in a book somewhere. This is, you gotta let him cry it out. We're children, we're children.
Starting point is 01:18:17 What? What? When the 22 and the cryin' you go to them. Yeah, okay, all right, baby, what's up? What's up? You did a good job. You didn't squeal for a while. All right, all right, yeah, you shook me out of it.
Starting point is 01:18:31 At the top of the order, tied with Frankie, but with a higher dex is Trudea. Congratulations, you got more dex than a 71 year old man. She looks at Edgar Riving in the curtain and she says that is no one here and I will prove it to you. She rips the scarf off of her neck revealing these four sort of stitched on mouths and they are going to begin to whale in harmony. Crescendoing in a soundwave of a 30-foot radius, so it basically hits the entire room. She can't see you, but this is something that even without seeing someone, it can affect them because it just affects an area.
Starting point is 01:19:20 Maybe I'm going to need you to give me a strength saving throw. Astey's stinking mouths. Seeing in unison. Ah, gross. 17. 17 passes. You are still knocked back into the desk behind you for six bludgeoning damage. But you are not knocked prone. Oh, gee.
Starting point is 01:19:42 Here's the impact of your... Ha, ha, ha, ha desk and she looks a little jarred. Well, perhaps someone is here after all. Show yourself. And then that is Frankie's turn. All right, Frankie, surprisingly dexterously is going to mimic what he just saw the puppet do, except in reverse. It just runs up the railing, is going to kick, open the door, and now his grandson's in trouble, so he's gonna use the good dagger, he uses Linette's dagger.
Starting point is 01:20:18 Ooh, you take out your late wife's dagger. And I'm just gonna jump in and I see the lady with all the mouths. I think you're in charge. And I'm just gonna jump in and take a swing on her. Great, ask these mouths sing. There is something bewitching about it. Give me a wisdom save or you will have to attack someone else.
Starting point is 01:20:45 What? Oh, that's fine. Oh, yeah, 21. Easy, okay, you hear this sort of wall of sound, which at first it was aggressive towards Mavid, but then as you come in to hit her, it becomes almost a sweet, seductive serenade, and you are no stranger to a sirens call. You don't give a fuck. Yeah, I see where it's coming from.
Starting point is 01:21:09 You got mouths on your neck, and that's strange. Ha ha ha. OK, so this is mostly going to be to set up Mavit. So I don't know where Mavit is, but I'm kind of positioning it to open her up because I'm not going to get sneak attacks, so this is just me doing a bad job. That's a 13 to hit.
Starting point is 01:21:24 13 does hit. 13 does hit. Oh wow, okay. If you hit higher, I'll tell you that you can close up on a remote. Oh shit, okay. Which will help with DCs on save. Okay, so this is gonna be a pretty pathetic attack. I think I basically just kick in the door,
Starting point is 01:21:38 do like a jumping attack towards her and get a slashing for a big four damage. Yeah. Four damage. Oh, who are you? My name's Frankie Fantasmo, and I'm the watchdog twilight tank Dorum is what people who mid-tell me. Frankie, I thought I called you and your stupid brood off
Starting point is 01:21:57 of this. Frankie, do you even know what I am working on? Resuscitation. I lost someone I loved too young. Wouldn't you like to bring someone back too? You know, I would. But whatever you're doing, you're going about it the wrong way. You know what? Did you know my wife? Because
Starting point is 01:22:27 wrong way. You know what, did you know my wife? Because it occurs to me that what happened to Genevieve seems pretty similar to what happened to my wife Lynette. She got mixed up in some bad stuff. They're both dancers. They're both around the same people. And then all of a sudden she starts wasting away. I don't know your wife, but I would imagine that if she made the wrong friends in this town, she could have made the wrong enemies as well. Okay, well then, this isn't personal. Well, I guess it is personal because you made my grandson squeal. Mavid take a shot. And I'm gonna use the Lynette ability to let Mavid take an attack.
Starting point is 01:23:09 Maybe it'll get a vantage because he has. Because he's greater in visibility. Greater in visibility so he'll also get sneak attack. Mavid continues squealing but this time more joyously. So it goes from me. He's such a cool 23 to hit. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's such a cool 23 to hit. That hit.
Starting point is 01:23:29 Fuck yeah. In fact, that hits and you will take away one of her mouths. Whoa. You can seal one of her mouths. Yeah, right on the kisser. Which one? So that is nine damage, but then with sneak attack, it's gonna be 24 damage. Woo!
Starting point is 01:23:46 Oh yeah. Okay, that is significant. My boy, and then I'll also do, I still have a bonus action, right? It doesn't use any action economy to use my dagger ability. Correct. I'll do a bonus action, help action on Penny. Oh great. Okay, great.
Starting point is 01:24:02 Next up is Edgar. Trudea looks completely rattled by what just invisibly attacked her and all she can assume is that you did something. Yeah, that's right. So she goes Edgar, get him and the skeleton. Oh, thank god you're here. We need it help. He's gonna come over to you. You got all this raw talent. What are you doing? And try to hit you. You got my boys over here. He's doing a great puppet show and you're a singer. Maybe the two of you could do some together. His first attack is a not one. So I think you are kind of convincing him That's a nice idea. You can control it from far away imagine a puppet in a skeleton. It's compelling Yeah, it's a nice idea, but the true day is made promises to me and I'm going after it That is it fucking too Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I pull out Genevieve's letters. The promises, they're not real. She says all this stuff, she can't actually back up anything she's saying.
Starting point is 01:25:08 I'm sure she wants to bring back whoever she wants to bring back, but I don't think she actually wants to deliver anything for you. No, she...she...she's true, Trudea. Of course not. Have you not seen all of the miracles I have worked and they only get stronger. The more people that add their voice to this chorus, it only gets stronger and yes, it started out weak, but it is getting stronger and stronger and stronger. I am deeply invested in this.
Starting point is 01:25:33 I wouldn't ever lie to you. Yeah, you're going to become another mouth on her neck or something. The puppet lives with us now. The puppet's doing great. The puppet's switched sides. Where the whir the puppet's going to sleep though? The whir the puppet's going to sleep in a glass here. It's a puppet. I'm going to build a little sides. Where's the pup? Where's the gunna sleep though? The pup is gonna sleep in a closet, it's a puppy. I'm gonna build a little bed.
Starting point is 01:25:47 Pantin' to build a little bed. Okay. And then that is Mavids' turn. All right. Yeah, see how you like this chorus? La da da da da da da da. Can I try my bite attack? Ha ha ha.
Starting point is 01:25:59 Yes, yes you can. You only want with the mouth. So you use your strength for your bite attack. Okay, so that would be a 14. A 14 hit. All right, so the bite is a D4? Yeah. That's a four.
Starting point is 01:26:14 Yes, and what's your strength? My strength is plus three. Plus three, so you get seven hit points. Wow, that's the last one. Nice. And then sneak attack, that's gonna be another 11 damage. Okay. And I also'm gonna use my fast hands,
Starting point is 01:26:32 and can I run and grab the urn? Yeah. Yeah, you can. You grab the urn and ask you do this. True day loses it. Put that down. Yeah, yeah, you want this, huh? You want this, right?
Starting point is 01:26:48 Yes, out day, you go after someone's loved ones. And then I think with that, she's going to call down because she sees the skeleton is doing jack shit. She's going to call down. Back up, I need backup. Oh shit. And you hear below some of the members of the collective start to run towards the stairs.
Starting point is 01:27:08 The puppet starts dancing in front of them. What are you going, boys? And I'm going to roll to see if the first one escapes the snare. Okay. Come on, Penn. That's another net one. Yeah! Yeah!
Starting point is 01:27:24 He's a puppeteer. He just needed to direct his focus. It's the one thing. Ha ha! I got you on my strings. One of the people running gets tangled up in the puppet. It bottlenecks the stare. It's like, can't have the wig.
Starting point is 01:27:38 Get out of the way. It's a ten-year-old. No, you're gonna miss the show. You want to stick around for this? And next up is Penny. Okay, Penny had a minor crisis of conscience, a little freak out panic attack on the stairwell, worried about his son,
Starting point is 01:27:52 but now he knows that his son needs him, and he bolts up there and says, maybe I'm coming for you, he's the worry boy! Oh, geez! He's gonna run into the room, get a sneak attack in on Tredea if I can. Great. Yeah, I'm up in the mix with her.
Starting point is 01:28:05 Oh, I had to also have Maven bid her. So. Oh, Truday really, really wants to make a two rounds so she can cast the spell. Oh, no. You have advantage. I give you the help back. Should I do an advantage?
Starting point is 01:28:18 Oh, 23 to hit. 23 hit. OK. In fact, it takes out another mouth. So now the saves for her spells will be 12 instead of 14. Oh! You should even answer that because she's like, I'm standing. All these nat ones from the... I'm literally using a dice. I usually have my own DM dice, but I just have some that Murf uses. I'm using a Murf. Oh, the Murf curse.
Starting point is 01:28:45 I rolled good with those the other day when I was running, yeah. This has given me two net ones and a two. So that is 13 damage? 13 damage, you're still there! All right. No, I'm gonna have to make this. And then for my cunning action, I'm going to reach in the my pocket with my mage hand,
Starting point is 01:29:03 grab my multi-tool, and slam it into the mirror to try and break it. To break the mirror. I'm just to make sure nobody else jumps out. Oh, yeah. Smart, smart. Okay, great. Okay, so you take your multi-tool, you slam it, you hear the crash, and all of these shards come spilling out from underneath the tapestry that was covering it. And in the shards, you see reflected this creature cocking its head with interest. You're not needed here today.
Starting point is 01:29:33 Problem for another day. Problem for another day. Successful portal of entry. All right, we have a crow that can clean that up later. You foos! And then that is back around to Chudaya. Ma'e, I'm so sorry. I should have come sooner.
Starting point is 01:29:48 Are you okay? Yeah, I'm great. It's whatever, don't worry about me. He's so confident. Look at this, he's got this new phone confidence. He's doing good, he's doing good. He's doing really good. We're all doing good.
Starting point is 01:29:58 I'm a puppeteer. All right. She's gonna use her highest levels, pal. He got it. The two remaining mouths begin quietly at first and then increase, increase, increase, increase into a cruel crescendo in a 30-foot cone at all of you. Even the fucking skeleton.
Starting point is 01:30:18 I could not. Everyone give me a constitution saving throw. Ooh, not my specialty. Oh, okay, I rolled a natural 18 though, 19. May the've got a 12. Uh oh. We're yelling, geez. You meet that beats it though, right?
Starting point is 01:30:34 Yes. Because you guys took out two of her mouths, the DC is actually 12 now. Wow. Ooh. What about you? I got a 21. Oh my god.
Starting point is 01:30:47 Okay. We're a very thick sweater. All right. So even the skeleton saved. You all take nine necrotic damage. But are not poisoned. That's good. That is now Frankie's turn.
Starting point is 01:31:03 You know what? I gotta keep setting up my little ghoul grandson here. Let me out of here. I mean, the biting's working for us. I'm not gonna lie. I doubted him at first, but you know, he's finding his own way.
Starting point is 01:31:15 He made his feral. He's here and my grandson is a ghoul. And that's fine. Oh my God. So yeah, I'll just take, I'll take an attack. Can you guess I missed? I got a nine. Nice. So I do a pathetic swipe as a distraction for Mavid to use his reaction to take an attack.
Starting point is 01:31:35 Okay. Yeah, this is for Frig. Huh? Frig. That is a 22 to hit. 22. I bite her for another forward damage on the D4. No need to apply your sneak attack damage.
Starting point is 01:31:50 She's down. Whoa! And like a dog with a bone, maybe it will not unclench his jaw. Maybe that's enough? That's enough? She's down. OK.
Starting point is 01:32:00 It's mine. Is this really over? This is overkill. This is for my god. It's on point, my sweet son. All right, yeah, let's be, oh god. Let's be a little more courteous, you know? Respect all the living and the dead.
Starting point is 01:32:12 And you have torn up about this. I'm trying to respect the, I'm trying to respect Frig. He wants, he wants flesh. He wants, he wants, he wants. You don't want to feed him anything. That's not very respectful, is it? He's really been thriving since he's gotten the Frig thing. I gotta be honest, he did really good today.
Starting point is 01:32:26 Yeah. Yes, her blood fills your mouth. The dripping out the edges of it, you feel as sinister approval. Oh God. I did good. And then I think that Edgar is not fully on your side. He is going to stand in front of the door and say,
Starting point is 01:32:48 we can work with this. Come on, try it up, up, up, up. And he is going to just try to attack. He can't see Mavid. He's just gonna try to attack Frankie. That makes sense, Edgar, you don't gotta do this. I do gotta do this. I wanna make it back to the stage.
Starting point is 01:33:04 I'm sick of singing and dancing. I don't want to be some campy show skeleton. I want to play Hamlet The Beth Lear. But you're already you're so good you bring joy to everybody that you pass. Yeah, you could also be the skull in Hamlet That's a big part. That's a huge part. You want me to be an unspeaking role in Hamlet? No you can do it. You could do it. You could do it. You could do it. You could do it. You could do it. You could do it. Hey, come on. No, we just think you could do a fun thing with it.
Starting point is 01:33:29 That's easy to hit, Penny. Oh, that is. I'm trying to meet you in the middle. You could take off your own head. You could play Hamlet in the style. That is flashing damage. He's going to try to hit Hamlet in the style. And he's up in bad ass.
Starting point is 01:33:41 15 to hit, Penny. Wow, geez, Edgar, where were you this whole time? I had hits. Oh, geez, Edgar, where were you this whole time? I had hits. Oh God. Five more slashing damage. Damn, Edgar, you were smokest. I need to blocks the door with his body. All right, I respect you even more than I ever did.
Starting point is 01:33:58 And that is Mavid. Mavid, you've got this painting hanging on the wall. You're holding these ashes, edgers blocking the door. You hear a kerfuffle downstairs as Trudea's minions get tangled up in puppetry. Just to clarify for you, the snare only catches one of them. Okay. So like, more could get up and they're able to repeat
Starting point is 01:34:21 the save at the end of their turn. Oh, okay. So then let's have the minion repeat the save. Okay. 16 for one of her minions. 16 will pass. Okay. One of the collective minions breaks free of the snare and runs upstairs, kicks in the door.
Starting point is 01:34:41 What do they even have? Fuck yes! They have a healing word! Oh! Don't celebrate! They are going to...well actually they can't get in because the door is being blocked, but they can open the door to see through to Trudeia. And heal Trudeia for six points. Trudeia, thank you. And then that is Mabid.
Starting point is 01:35:09 Now, nobody has for an encore. Maybe it's just gonna attack her. Okay. A 21 to hit. That also takes out another now. If it's just a badass, that's gonna be 90 damage with my sneak dive. It's really applying himself. True day, I began to say thank you, my faithful.
Starting point is 01:35:31 You have brought me the old thing to this background. And then I'll do, I'll use my cunning action to spill some ball bearings on the stairs in case anybody else is gonna come up here. Oh, yeah! Oh, yeah! Yeah! Take that!
Starting point is 01:35:45 Amazing. What is the save for your ball bearings? Just to see if these people can even get up. It's so nothing. I think it's just 10. Oh, God, no, it's gotta be 12, right? Is it 10? Let me see.
Starting point is 01:35:59 Two can still get up on their turn. I'm gonna use Silvery Barbs so they want at the top to make a reroll. Ha, ha, ha, ha! It's a 13 with a one at the top to make a reroll. Ha ha ha ha. It's a 13, a dozen. Ah, that's a good one. Yeah, that is only 10. Jesus confirmed.
Starting point is 01:36:11 Jesus, it was balls of small. Ha ha ha. Silvery Barbs, I think, for Penny looks like just kind of some magnesium strips that kind of flash in the air. Ooh, it really tries to make them distracted and fall down but it doesn't work. But he says, okay, those really good thinking with the ball bearings though, maybe.
Starting point is 01:36:28 That was really smart, my son. You know what, hey, you crock, how about that? What? You crock, because he's worshiping an ordinary guy. All right, it's too much, it's too much. Jeez, no one likes puns. I'm, oh, you won't be, you won't be my sweet. Henny, it's your turn.
Starting point is 01:36:46 It's not Luke's side of what we came for. If she's down, then maybe now's the time. I'm going to go inspect the painting. Yeah, it's kind of like a portal to the ethereal plane. So I don't know if you have any way to reach into the ethereal plane. You would know that hags can reach into the ethereal plane. They have something called a heartstone that is where they get their healing, but also
Starting point is 01:37:09 allows them access. I think I'll just take the whole painting. Yeah. I'll grab it and use my mage hand to help support my... Okay. ...to help support the awkward size of it. Yeah, yeah. I'll let you.
Starting point is 01:37:19 I was going to say it's two people in need to carry it, but with your sort of ledger domain, I think that you can balance it. I'm just kind of like, I like push it into my gut and I'm using my mage hand to hold it in place. I'm using my other hand to like grab it on the side. And then I'm just like walking, waddling towards the window. Okay, let's go, let's go, let's go. Next up is Trudea's, I guess she's gonna start making fucking deathsafe. Okay. How about that? That's a net one oh my god two fails oh shit oh my god Frankie you're up next you see
Starting point is 01:37:55 Trudea she has these unnaturally stitched mouths on her. She's been running essentially a pyramid scheme of shoddy healing, hiring assassins, and if you leave it to chance, her followers are going to just keep healing her. Do you want to finish this here or do you want to have another enemy in this town? Mm, Oh boy. Frankie's not good at this part.
Starting point is 01:38:29 Maven, throw me to earn. To earn, yeah. What do you want it for here? Who cares? I catch it before I can spill everywhere. Some respect. Maven, what's the point? She ain't around.
Starting point is 01:38:46 I'm gonna take the urn. I'm gonna wrap her hands in it. And I'm gonna say, I'm sorry, but your grief isn't an excuse to hurt people and to pass the hurt on. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. And he'll take an attack on Trudea.
Starting point is 01:39:11 Oh, go for it. And she's proud to do it with advantage. The hits. And as you hit, you see the sort of like unnaturally stitched mouth. Yeah, I think I'll stab into like something that's this sort of like demonic aspect of it. I think like something that she's probably stone
Starting point is 01:39:34 from someone or something, I'll stab into like one of the mouths. Okay, Frankie, as Lynette's dagger finds purchase in one of these mouths, they shrivel up and this presence that was so nefarious, fate, and Trudea softens into the woman she was before she let her grief warp her into something cruel and monstrous. And in this final moment, clutching the beloved urn, you have so mercifully placed in her arms, she looks more innocent but also free. All right. Frankie looks very, very emotional and then looks up, sees the skeleton, sees people
Starting point is 01:40:35 trying to bust through the door. Okay, maybe it'd be a deer and break the window. What am I gonna do every day? I'm always doing all the work. I'm doing all the work. You'll get out of just seeing me. You doing so good, man. You doing so good. I gotta do everything I'm always doing You doing You doing great you got another little Paul Jack All right, go please
Starting point is 01:41:00 Look it's not that hard this case is got you between two two rocks, Dan, I saw. I saw the whole thing. He got it. Maybe chuck some remaining ball bearings at the window. You sure you don't want it just to tuck in? Please, please attack it with your, I buy the window with your things. Yeah. Yeah, I will, I'll swing my rape you're at the window.
Starting point is 01:41:20 Great. 17. Hits, and you're invisible so you can have sneak attack. Wow. Because it's sort of like a vine that's covering it, which is sort of a creature. So you can be using sneak attack. Sick. 17 damage.
Starting point is 01:41:35 Okay. You see that you slash into the window the glass shatters and slashes at some of this vine and you're starting to make some headway. But the skeleton is still here. Oh, come on. There's nothing for you in this town, Edgar. We can workshop an act. You endure, Edgar, and Dory on the road.
Starting point is 01:41:57 We're supposed to be my big knight and he's going after Frankie. What, come on. Hey! Finally hitting. You wait, you beat a 12. You got a 23. Yeah, there you go, pretty good.
Starting point is 01:42:11 That is eight slashing damage. Gonna take a second attack. Now we're all good, 21 to hit. Okay. Eight more slashing damage. I'm so hurt. Hey, you were burning through every good shred of good will I have, okay? 8 more slashing damage. I'm so hurt. You were burning through every good shred of good will I have, okay?
Starting point is 01:42:29 That's about that. You still believe in this guy? You're still gonna give him a chance? Your wounds stretch as a character than me. Yeah, I know. We don't need to give him a chance, but I do think we gotta go. We gotta go, okay. We'll kill this skeleton later.
Starting point is 01:42:43 I don't like him anymore either. And let me see, so he's blocking the door, but I am gonna have one of these versifiers who has made it up the stairs, despite the ball bearings, is going to look at you, Frankie, and cast sleep. Mm, oh shit, okay, I'm just out, I think. Ooh, 8HP. No, Frankie falls asleep.
Starting point is 01:43:10 What are you doing, Grandpa? I can't, I'm back. That was not the time we got. We didn't get a good night's sleep last night. He really slept poorly. You gotta stop sleeping in the chair, Dad. And then that is Mavit. Mavit your grandpa's asleep. Your dad is balancing this painting.
Starting point is 01:43:30 It's really heavy. The vines are still obscuring the window. You can see a little bit outside of there that you do still have that spectator. That's gonna try and chase you guys down. But you also see, ready for you, is the carriage that Frankie secured with Ignatius, with a griffin waiting at the wings to take off into the night. All right, man, come on, that's us. That's all right. Out there, we gotta go wake up. That is all telling me not to wake you up when you're sleeping, but I think you gotta wake up now. That's true. Maybe you should wake up, boys. You should wake up, boys, Mavid.
Starting point is 01:44:07 Mavid starts really innocently just poking at his grandfather with his dagger. Oh, oh. Hey, come on. Come on, we gotta get out of here. So then, yeah, Mavid's gonna use his action to shake his grandfather awake. Great.
Starting point is 01:44:21 Come on, let's go. All right. Oh, Mavid, is it done? Is it all good? I'll say you want to sleep. Don't you say you want to sleep. All right. Oh, maybe it's a done, is it all right? Don't you say you want to sleep? Don't you say you want to sleep? You always say you, I wasn't asleep, but you wasn't asleep. I was down here, I was getting a low angle, so I could go for like a double leg,
Starting point is 01:44:33 and they'd downhouse, get a tackle. I know it. All right, all right, I was asleep. Thank you for waking me up. I know what sleeping looks like. Thank you for waking me up. You're very perceptive. It's true.
Starting point is 01:44:43 I remember just waking up and he'd be staring at me. And then that is Penny. Okay, so I want to communicate to Dory the puppet and tell her to run out to Ignatius and tell him that it's time to light it up. I think find familiar, you can telepathically communicate. So you hear sort of the playful hollow wooden clicking of your new puppet familiar and you hear her jangly little limbs as she skrees down to Ignatius.
Starting point is 01:45:13 It's put on a show. In an act of final theory, I am going to cast Sleep on all of the other henchmen in the stairwell. Oh, interesting. Okay, what level spell and roll how many hit points? Okay, so it's gonna be 5-8 for first level. Okay. That's gonna be 25 hit points. With that, you are able to, even though he's undead and I think undead technically can't go to sleep, it's just more fun. You are able to put to sleep the skeleton because he was low on hit points and the person
Starting point is 01:45:49 who is over his shoulder who casts sleep on your dad. Oh shit. Alright, show's over. Great. So that kind of takes them out of the combat. Frankie, it's you. Great. Yeah, I'll just go over and I'll start taking swipes at the vines here 16 hit does hit yeah, okay, I'm next to my my boys so I get sneak attack 21 damage Yes, that is good you the cat nap in you take a serious chunk out of these vines and you see Ignatius down there readying his fireworks, but you also see the spectator. All right, that's a problem for future Frankie. Very, very close future Frankie.
Starting point is 01:46:34 Maybe be a deer and get rid of the rest of these vines. I'm like, I threw everything. All right, all right. That's only 11 to hit the vines. Misses? Oh, I'm not gonna swing at these vines, you two. All right, you know what? In light of all the things that have happened today,
Starting point is 01:46:49 we're not gonna, nobody's gonna yell. We're just gonna sit with this. We're gonna sit with this. I feel like it anymore. Next up is Edgar, but he is kind of in his sleep humming. So talented. So it's such a shame. Such a waste of talent.
Starting point is 01:47:05 Oh, it could have been. The Versifier is also sort of... He could have done like a funny hamlet where he didn't have a head, but he was the skeleton. Could have been like a Vintriloquism thing. Yeah, hamlet from Yorick's perspective. Yeah, yeah, it would have been interesting. Then that is background to you, Mayvid. Alright, fine. I guess I'll swing it. I guess I'll swing it to Vines. It's a 24 to you, Mayvid. Alright, fine, I guess I'll swing it. I guess I'll swing it to Vines.
Starting point is 01:47:25 It's a 24 to hit. That hits. And since I did sneak up at them, he just comes out of nowhere at these Vines. 22. 22 and the very last bit of vine clinging to this window trying to prevent your escape. Surrenders to Mayvid's rapier.
Starting point is 01:47:42 You are on the third floor. Yep, huh. How do you want to getavids Rapier. You are on the third floor. Yep, huh? How do you want to get down? Oh right. Could we use could we use the painting as sort of a parachute? No, we cannot and it's canvas then. That's not it. That doesn't work. You can try. Yeah, Pendle it Can we whistle for this Griffin? It can fly right? Oh, yeah. Yeah, Pendlein. Can we whistle for this Griffin? It can fly, right?
Starting point is 01:48:06 Oh, yeah. Yeah, give me a persuasion check to whistle for this Griffin. Drop, drop. They also, they love horse meat if you guys have any of that. I can't say it, but I do. It's mostly just peanut fresh out. A dirty 20. Dirty 20, all right.
Starting point is 01:48:26 Maybe whistles really loudly through the snaggle too. Yeah, and I think I'm like waving to Ignatius, kind of like maybe, maybe give him a little butt scoop. So the combination of this like little whistle and your platinum that you pumped to Ignatius, Ignatius, kind of like, mostly the platinum, right? It gives a nice smack on the ass of the Griffin. It flies into the air, the carriage hovering by the window.
Starting point is 01:48:51 All right. Give me Dexchecks to hop in. Oh, boy. We go. All right. Ooh, I rolled a 19. All right, Frankie, you just woke up from a nap. You hop in.
Starting point is 01:49:04 Oh, all right, boys, you just woke up from a nap you hop in. Oh, all right boys, I feel good. You hop into this high-mage, glade-home carriage. Okay. Has like all the trappings, there's like a little bar in here. Wait, maybe this is your new phrase. He's gonna be so mad. All right, he's a conversation for another day. Another day.
Starting point is 01:49:21 What was that note? He can meet us at our carriage house, where we're from. Perfect, no, where we are. We gotta go to Miss Mabel. We'll figure it out. I got a 17. 17 great penny you hop in also.
Starting point is 01:49:33 I got a 14. All right, you hop in. All right, all right, let's get going. Let's go get in. I'm gonna say that the Griffin pulls a hard turn, but the spectator will get one ray shot. The Griffin is gonna have a way better fly speed, but this spectator, which is like a security gaser,
Starting point is 01:49:52 but beefed up, is going to probably get a turn. What are you spectated? It's spectator. It can't see any of you guys, but it is going to try a wounding ray on your Griffin. No, so you need to return this in good condition. The Griffin has to do a Constitution save with someone like to roll for the Griffin. Oh boy. Yeah, I'll do it. No, no, no, no, Jake, you do it. No, Jake, you want the, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, 13, about mine would have been a four. This Griffin takes off into the night.
Starting point is 01:50:48 In fact, it swoops into the night and it swoops so high up that you guys actually ascend beyond the shadow of Twilight saying, Torum, and you see the constellations that have been hidden from you for so long, you see it's a full moon tonight. You even go so high to see a bit of the material playing.
Starting point is 01:51:12 What the fuck? It's like looking at the night sky in the day while, don't bet. There's so much color. I forgot about it. You guys seen this before? I mean, some like it, but you know, the sky's a little different every night, Mavid. You're getting some special. You know what, with all that platinum, maybe we can take a little trip. That is true. And then the Griffin plunges
Starting point is 01:51:37 back down into the shadow of Twilight's St. Torrim. where do you want to direct this Griffin to go? Let's get this painting to Miss Mabel. Yeah. Okay, first thing's first. Who is directing the Griffin? I'm bossing the Griffin's around. It's going all right, guys. Down I think. Can I toss out this guy's card?
Starting point is 01:51:58 Let me just wait. Get rid of it. Let's just give him the picture. As you toss out this guy's business card, you see that it turns into a dove and starts flying back. Oh, this is actually good. No, we want him to know where his carriage is. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:52:15 We don't have to betray him. We don't need this painting. Yeah. It slipped. He fell out of my pocket. That's a cool trick, though. Look at that. I was supposed to do, hang out to a card forever, no? You can't. It's a whole trick, though. Look at that. I was supposed to do hang out to a card forever, no?
Starting point is 01:52:26 You know, he's like a chanted origami. How about that? It's good, it's good. It's a mistake, it fell out. Yeah. And you guys, Park, who actually give me like an animal handling check on the scryphon to park him without causing any property damage. 17. Great. You guys land the scryphon right in front of Abel Miss Mabel's hut.
Starting point is 01:52:48 When you go inside, you see she's already set up for this ritual. You see Genevieve's body lays under a shroud. It's surrounded by a ritualistic amount of oily, smoky, tallow candles. Frankie. Maybe you thought, you prepped, you had confidence in us. You thought we were gonna do it? It takes a long time to prep.
Starting point is 01:53:12 I've been prepping all day. Right, I'm just saying. I'm sorry, is this not prepped? Is this too prepped for you? Yeah, mine. I'm trying to do a good job and I make fun of you. All right, we just saw the night sky. We just, let's not ruin the day.
Starting point is 01:53:26 All right, we're feeling giddy. You know what, we're feeling all right over here. The doglings have come home the roofs. Yeah, look, okay, we got this painting. We don't know how to reach in. There's the unicorn hairs in the dulcimer. Okay, okay. She takes out from under her sort of shirt,
Starting point is 01:53:42 a necklace with this glossy black gem. And holding it, she is able to reach into the painting. Pull out this dulcimer. All right. So this is it then. This is the unicorn hair. That's it. We got everything we need, I think.
Starting point is 01:54:02 Yes, we figure. She looks over this doll's mirror. She kind of shivers. This is a very cursored item. Do you know what it does? It is. It instills false life. I mean, these strings, yes, they are unicorn hair, but the body of this instrument, it's
Starting point is 01:54:28 birch pine, which comes from a place called the whisper wood, but it's, she looks at it, it's corrupted. The whisper wood, that's near clay dome, right? Yes, but this tree that made the body of this instrument, I think it was a gallows tree. Oh, okay. And that guy was from Gladehome and wanted this painting. That's nefarious. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:55:00 Well, he said he wanted, well, maybe what did he say he wanted it for? He wanted the painting itself or he wanted what was in it. He told me he wanted the painting. I what did he say he wanted it for? He wanted the painting itself or he wanted what was in it. He told me he wanted the painting. I don't know what he wanted it for. Hmm. Well, she rips the unicorn hair off of the dulcimer. She breaks it over her knee. Oh, that was really well crafted. Okay, all right. Secure the hot while I begin my vlog.
Starting point is 01:55:23 Secure the hot cheese, Louise. what do I gotta do, everything? Come on, we'll go together, maybe, we'll break. What's been this kid? What's been this kid? You know, he actually had a very productive good day. Good day, big night. And in my own way, I'm proud of him, but there's no excuse to talk back like that,
Starting point is 01:55:39 I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry, yeah, I'm so sorry, what else? Yeah, alright, that's gross. He said it, he couldn't hear it, because he looked away and he's kicking dirt. But he said I'm sorry, yeah, I'm sorry. Yeah, alright, that's gross. You said it, he couldn't hear it because he looked away and he's kicking dirt. But he said he's sorry. Okay, I accept, I accept. And she begins her little ritual. She collects from you the other spell components and prepares like an engine of ash and brine
Starting point is 01:56:03 and oil. And she sort of dresses the body in it. She wraps the body in unicorn hair and cocoon silk, and she puts this delicate, funerary shroud back on it, and she begins muttering in cantations. A wind picks up flickering the candles. Miss Mabel's head falls forward as if in a trance. You guys smell sense of the Feywild, sunflower, funnel cake. Then underneath this shroud, Then underneath this shroud, Genevieve's body expands and contracts, assuming and rejecting potentialities. Mabel's brows knit as if haggling, bargaining with some power that is greater than her.
Starting point is 01:57:01 She rides an effort. Blood pools at the creases of her eyes. A vile of blood explodes on a nearby shelf. This is clearly a type of magic that is not as gentle as what you would think of as like a druid's reincarnation. And then finally, shifting under the shroud stops. and then finally the shifting under the shroud stops. The wind dies down. Mabel's face relaxes but she looks completely drained and says, okay, they have secured the body for a misgen of you. But it was not easy. I have to rest now. Of course. Okay. Yeah. Well, we'll make sure nobody, nobody messes with it. Okay. Thank you. Yeah. Well, so, so where's the body?
Starting point is 01:57:55 Underneath the shroud. Okay. So yeah, thanks. You think I'm help me able to lie down or sit down. You gently tuck meble into her little sleeping satchel and underneath the shroud, something stirs. And here is where I guess we would roll our reincarnation to do what? Do you want to drink? It's a D-100.
Starting point is 01:58:24 Since Miss Mebles from the Feywild and is bargaining with Fey deities to procure this new body, I changed it so they're a little more faithy. Cool. You wanna roll it? New bad rolls on the D-100, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:58:39 Hahaha. 82. And what sits up from the shroud is a human. Oh! She is now a human body. Frankie! Hey, did I leave you all right? She looks down at her body.
Starting point is 01:59:00 She quickly looks to see if the goal mark is still on her. It isn't... You have saved me. Just leave you, you have saved me. Just doing a job. Yeah, just, uh, well, you know, we didn't save you the first time, but luckily, uh, you know, Maple here was able to help us out, but yeah, you hired us to protect you and you know, we did our best. You did more than your best. You truly are the defenders of Twilight Saint-Doram.
Starting point is 01:59:33 Well, well, thanks. Yeah, you know, it's, yeah, no. It's where we're from. We wanted to be nice. She kind of clutches her new body with relief and excitement. I have been such a fool. Everything I worked for. I already had. I'm going to leave this fucking town. I'm getting the fuck out of you. I think that uh, I do might want to see you.
Starting point is 02:00:03 Yes. Of course. Yes. You should chat with her about the notes though. Oh yeah. Just get everything out. Not open before you run off together. Yeah, you might get it. You know, make your own decisions. We will talk about everything.
Starting point is 02:00:17 Yeah. And now, we will have time too. You have given me this gift. And it's our as well. She fumbles around for her old clothing, and in a pocket is a key to a safe deposit box. Is that money? I got to that. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:00:39 You know what? Is that money, isn't it? Yeah, Maven, you can hang on to that, yeah. Yeah, you've earned that song. Maybe it looks shifty, I'd then snatches it really quickly. Thank you, Miss. Oh, thank you. Please, please, please, you have returned.
Starting point is 02:00:55 And with that, she begins to gather up her stuff. She puts a protective hand on Mabel. She understands what happened, she understands, I don't know how to repay you. Well listen, I don't, go off, go, go, talk to Ayrego, do your thing, you're repaying us with literal payment. You know, you did, you hired us, you hired us to do it. You say you don't know how to repay us,
Starting point is 02:01:23 do you mean that there's no money in the safe deposit? You grab it. Okay, that is lady. Yeah, yeah. Maybe. Right. She says she didn't know how to pay us. I don't want to overwhelm you.
Starting point is 02:01:35 And now since you just came back. You can ask anything of me, that's you front. I just had a question. I lost my wife in the Feywild and it was after she suddenly came into a lot of money in Twilight's St. Torum. And I'm kind of wondering if she made some deal that I didn't know about. I don't know if you know about that from your time with her or if you would know why somebody would get a lot of money and then suddenly pass away. What's all this debt?
Starting point is 02:02:09 Genevieve looks reluctant for a moment and then completely sheds it. I was telling you what I know because I am going to leave. Lynette worked for Atticus. She acquired dirt. On other families, she is the reason that the bombats that I seat on the city council. What? So the sickness that was just natural, that had nothing to do with? I don't know.
Starting point is 02:02:45 Can I think back on when Lynette got sick if it was just natural and she just passed away or if there was some kind of curse or something? Looking back, you've seen wasting disease since then. It's possible it wasn't wasting disease. There are poisons that might mimic a natural death. Okay. Well, I don't... She's collecting dirt on people and maybe she makes some enemies of her own, huh? Maybe.
Starting point is 02:03:17 I think we need to speak to Atticus. Another problem for another day, but now we got a panamon your side. I'm on your side. I know I've seen I know yeah. So you know yeah. I cannot imagine it was Atticus. Okay. He was so happy for your family. Okay, so it was just he just you know put her in danger by you know, let nerd do his dirty right. I appreciate you. Yeah, when I went out there, I've thrilled about it. Oh, and that's why you wanted to do a favor. I'm human.
Starting point is 02:03:49 I'm human. Man, this guy, I'm human. You see this fucking guy? This guy, this guy, he just like poses a street. He's something else, huh? I don't know what if the hell he's doing. He's always been, he's always been all right. Yeah, he's always been.
Starting point is 02:04:00 That's a problem, that's a problem, that he's a little bit all right. He's a creature of a lady. And he's a dark damn creature of a lady. And he's a dark damn creature of a lady. And he's a dark damn creature of a lady. And he's a dark damn creature of a lady. And he's a dark damn creature of a problem. That's a problem is that he's a little bit alright. He's a creature of the night Maybe he's a dark day I'm pretty sure that I can't just go after him if he was just evil evil the B.A.C Right? I'm pretty sure that he's just putting everybody in danger. Alright, Genevieve, we're gonna be fine. He's a shapeshifter. You can't trust him. He's not showing you anything real. Why are you yelling at me?
Starting point is 02:04:17 Alright, sorry. Sorry. Alright, Genevieve, we're sorry. I shouldn't tell you this but he is so one who secured that part of land for you in the family. It makes it tough, it makes it tough. Who sides every corner, dad, you know? Yeah. We gotta talk to him. So sorry.
Starting point is 02:04:34 No, it's alright. She loved you very much. Everything she did, she did for you in pen. And I'm sure for you, but you weren't around yet. Yeah. Yeah, her she was real nice. She sounds alright. She would have loved you so much, Mavid. She would have messed you up even more than we have. Yeah. She would have spoiled your wife and son. And with that, Genevieve collects her effects. She spends the rest of the day
Starting point is 02:05:09 making sure Miss Abel's okay, presumably then goes finds Aida that you of them leave. And you guys go back to your house. Yeah, I think I'll make sure since a Mabel got attacked last time, I'll make sure while Mabel's in her weakened state, do you want us to, uh, stay in guard here, do you want us to take you to, we got Griffins for now, do you want to come, do you want to have a Griffin? Yeah, just for our own, we're borrowing it. That's so fucking cool.
Starting point is 02:05:38 Yeah, do you want to come, we can go for a Griffin ride and you can stay at the carriage house for a little bit. If you're beat up, we don't want you to get your own broken again. We might go get steaks We're thinking about steaks I could think about steaks. Alright, let's go get a steak We got a cash. Let's go to that Pass it box. Let's go get let's go take another flight around. Let's not that hungry, but I'll come on whatever other flight around. I'm not that hungry, but I'll come on whatever. You know what, baby?
Starting point is 02:06:05 You make it so hard. We gotta try these things. We need something later. You got a bunch of stuff at the party. What do you want? We just got a big day. We had a big day. We're connected.
Starting point is 02:06:13 You got these people to stay. You got these people to stay. I'm sleepy. You're almost dead before we do a coffee son. You know what? I'm sleepy. I'm sleepy. You're almost dead before we do a coffee son.
Starting point is 02:06:22 You know what? I'm sleepy. I'm sleepy. I'm sleepy. You want to keep on going every last. You want to keep on going every last. You want to keep on going every last. You want to keep on going every last. You want to keep on going every last. You want to keep on going every last. You want to keep on going every last. You want to keep on going every last.

Starting point is 02:06:50 You guys could probably get your own carriage for your carriage house. You could finally be a carriage house with a carriage. You go pick up steaks, you fly around the sky eating that. Without David, right? David goes home and goes to bed early. We'll get him at the go box. You see that, like, Mabel was completely blindsided
Starting point is 02:07:12 by this kindness that you guys offered her. Probably no one has ever offered a hug like her a night on the town before. And then you guys return to your carriageachouse and as you go in, having successfully helped a client, yet another successful job and a well-paid one might I add, you guys see a fire tucked under your door. It's for another hag. It's mishabel scoffs and she says, oh, fucking, cape, the skull. Go have a Miss Claire. Oh, her love potions are fucking snake oil.
Starting point is 02:07:53 I'm telling you. Yeah, literally. Literally? Yeah, because actually to put a good love potions snake oil. Okay. Yeah, kind of fucking, I should get into it. Okay.
Starting point is 02:08:04 So you all see this tacky little flyer, except for Penny, you recognize it for a spell that you yourself practice. It's a lucery script. Hang on. Whereas Frankie and Mabel, not Mavid because he's not there. and Mabel, not Mavid because he's not there. Yeah. Um, whereas they just see sort of a tacky flyer for a hag over promising on the effects of her love potion, you read a different message, one just for you. Uh-oh.
Starting point is 02:08:38 That only you can see, I've got your blood. Let's talk about what you can do to get it back. Niko. And that's where we're going. Oh my god. Oh boy. I took a thing at that stake. Maybe it sleeps so deep.
Starting point is 02:09:03 I don't know why you're more mad about this than Mabel is. But I don't know, I'll throw it out. I crumble it out. Oh, no, no, no. Okay, all right. Just in case, you know, Mabel's busy. That's so exciting. The story will continue.
Starting point is 02:09:17 Wow. Oh my god, really? Really? That's really good. Good job, everyone. We got Nico. We've got a wizard that's maybe mad at us. You guys did, it was smart of you to get rid of Trudea.
Starting point is 02:09:29 She was gonna be a thug. Yeah, that was it. I was trying to, it was the mouse. I know that you were thinking, do I want to do this? And I was like, do it. Well, it's the reflection of Frankie's own thing. Except he's grumpy, he's not bringing back people from the dead to serve her dark bidding I'm gonna need you to save that for the short rest.
