That's why I've started a new podcast. It's a show about the climate crisis and what we can do about it. So stop doom scrolling and tune into I'm f***ing the future. Together we can I'm f***ing things.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Listen to I'm f***ing the future on the iHOP radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey everyone, it's Sophia Bush, host of Podcast Workin' Progress, and I am thrilled to tell you that Workin' Progress is back for a third season. It has never been more important than right now to have these conversations with all of you so that we can get educated and lightened and we can all be entertained. I will be sitting down and having deep conversations with thought leaders, newsmakers, celebrities, elected officials, and more. Listen to work in progress on the I Heart Radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you
Starting point is 00:00:59 listen to podcasts. A middle-aged electrician is murdered in a quiet Amsterdam suburb. The killing leads investigators into a web of drugs, money laundering, and state-sponsored assassinations that stretchers from Dublin to Dubai. At the center is a cocaine super cartel and a hidden economic war between democracies and dictatorships. It's the new season of the hip podcast from the financial times and pushkin industries. Hot money, the new season of the hit podcast from the financial times and pushkin industries. Hot money, the new narcos.
Starting point is 00:01:26 Listen to Hot Money, the new narcos on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or whatever you get your podcasts. Welcome to This is Important, a production of iHeartRadio, the show where we only talk about what's the most important bottom line, critical thing happening on this planet.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Today on This Is Important, Radio Silent City took four duffel bags full of weed home. Texas hadn't been scared when I was smoking weed. I slept, upside down in my closet, but I slept. He's dickin' that chucky costume. Come on, we're all thinking it Buckle up Damn
Starting point is 00:02:30 Wow those look come in hot like this is what I I was hoping was gonna happen that you fully revamped the soundboard Oh, yeah, you retired a bunch of old soundboard clips because they are from the tour We're word back in our respective it looks like a closet and office where we don't hang stuff I'm in a closet. I'm in my boy cave There's this little boy cave and then I have curtains behind me and you got a nice piece of artwork hanging there But yeah, you put some art Yeah, looks good. Yeah, I finally have had some time to be in my house and I I hung two things So and one of them is behind me. Big stuff. Now, will you describe that to the listeners,
Starting point is 00:03:06 please? What are we looking at? Um, this is some art by my friend Skinner. It's a lot of monsters from the Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual. So it is a lot of fun. And, and you like that? Oh, that's a lot of fun. Yeah, I, you know, I just freaking smoke weed and stare at it for freaking hours, dude.
Starting point is 00:03:23 And monsters. We love Skinner. We love Skinner. We love Skinner. Shut up baby. Love them. Oakland Spine. So did you retire some of the sun board that will never hear them again?
Starting point is 00:03:33 Is that what you're trying to say, Abyssal? No. What is this narrative? What is this narrative you're pushing? I don't what's going on. See, I think the exciting thing for the podcast would be like, we're back. We're doing a, we're totally different. We're back. It's going to be totally different.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Are we still part of it or is it just you? I'm doing my own podcast. What are these ideas that come out on air? Like the expectations? What's going on here? Here's my pitch. Here's my catch. I like this. We make a big deal about retiring certain things from the podcast including people. All right, fine, I get it. I'm out. We do a whole 20 minutes on retiring, whatever one that we decide or maybe a handful that we decide or we're retiring these were no longer going to do the cause of diarrhea or whatever we choose. I don't know if that's the one or not. We're doing like a Sarah McLaughlin.
Starting point is 00:04:27 I will remember you moment to these. Oh, that would be cool. I believe so. I believe we have to. Well, just you guys, the fans go ahead and send in your votes for what gets the shot. Yeah. Wait, the fans get to decide or do we get to decide?
Starting point is 00:04:41 I feel like we should decide this. Well, here's Kyle. Here's what we do. The fans. I let fans decide everything in my life. Yeah. Fans. No, no, no, no. We do the first. That's why my kids are named Baskin Robbins. As a collective.
Starting point is 00:04:56 My son, Zio's pizza. Uh, no, I feel we let the fans decide. And then when we don't like with the fans decide we just do whatever we love. We lean in hard. Yeah, that's democracy. Yeah, they like they do the legwork and then we have the veto power veto power. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, there.
Starting point is 00:05:16 Yeah, I'm down that. I like it, you know, and then it'll be a very special episode of this is important. Yeah, okay. Well, because I because I reached out to Blazer just a few days ago, a very special episode of This is Important. Yeah. Okay. Well, because I reached out to Blazer just a few days ago about the soundboard and I was like, I think we got to make some room because the Cat Williams interview.
Starting point is 00:05:37 Oh, yeah. Yeah, we're back to some topical stuff. Like is our entire podcast now just gonna be sound bites from that cat Williams? That's a tough one to pull from because it's three hours of goal. Dude, I have not seen the whole thing I've been trying to, but it's really long. Well, yeah, by the way, you do not have to watch. It's so long. I fell asleep on Friday listening to that shit.
Starting point is 00:06:02 It's way too long. I watched like 30 minutes of it and was like, just give me the heavy hitters. I just want to see. There's highlights on Friday. Listen into that shit. It's way too long. I watched like 30 minutes of it and was like, I just give me the heavy hitters. I just want to see there's highlights on YouTube. Yeah, just the highlights this one. I feel like when I watch the highlights though, it's pretty much the first 30 minutes. Like he came out fucking hot and did all the dirty swing and here he had a fucking hit list ready to go. He had an agenda. Yeah. And then what like the last two hours are just recipes that he recommends. Well, that I don't know. I have he tells fans how to make snicker doodles. I make a macaroni cheese that said with the entertainer, damn fuck,
Starting point is 00:06:35 where? That's not as interesting. Yeah, you can't fuck with my, with my B strogan on. Bitch, you don't think I can make a ramenmaging Ricky smiley can't cook because Ricky smiley can't cook God Tory can't touch my jumbo liar bitch. I got a tuna casserole But catty's fucking cool, right? I can say it right yeah Yeah, I think Kevin Hart had the best like come back. He was like cat It was essentially he was like you're the Legend you're fantastic. You had it all you can't blame anyone else for you falling off except for yourself Oh, you didn't do the press stuff. You didn't show up
Starting point is 00:07:18 Cats probably too cool. He was just too cool He didn't show up to the thing and when you don't show up to the thing, they don't wanna hire you the next time. Right. You're fucking disaster, my guy. That being said, 10 years after he's fallen off, he can release a pretty dope podcast that we're all excited about.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Yeah, I do think it's an interesting, I do think it's an interesting kind of like, what's the word here? Just like looking at the way things pan out. So it's like, yeah, if you're Kevin Hart, you're a super nice guy. You say yes to a lot of things, you show up, and you do the things outside of what we can call
Starting point is 00:07:56 stand up or the art, right? And Kat is like, I'm not really interested in that bullshit. That's not what I'm doing. I'm here to make stand up do art, make people laugh, and be the best at that. Handfight 14 year old. And so what's better? What's cooler? Being Kevin Hart and having a thousand watches
Starting point is 00:08:16 and being a decent shirt. Yeah, it's cool. It's objective. This is objective. But no one's going to remember your watches, player. Right, watches are tight. Goodbye. They're going to But no one's gonna remember your watches player. Right, watches your time. Goodbye. They're gonna remember that one dope interview you gave.
Starting point is 00:08:28 Like, I'll say this, does Kevin Hart ever want Cat Williams to open up for him? I'm sure Cat Williams will let anybody open up for him because Cat knows Cat's gonna be scratching after. But do you know what I'm saying? Like, the watch come out. I don't think he's angry. I think he's just kind of like, let's just, let's just set the table here and remind everybody that
Starting point is 00:08:49 of course, of course, but like, it's because the emphasis on this business now is on the watches. He didn't mention watches from what I remember, but I'm saying like the signifiers of making it, the signifiers of success. We got it, we have it really twisted right now. Well, there's a level of professionalism that I think Kat just does not have. Like he straight up wouldn't show up to stand up gigs.
Starting point is 00:09:19 He straight up wouldn't show up when he's shooting, wouldn't show up on set and they're like looking for him. Like you have to, if you sign up for a job, you have to do the job. Yeah. I'm not denying that. And then when there's press stuff, you have to go do the press stuff. Right, but what I'm stressing is I would argue he's more professional about the one thing he cares about, which is the creation itself. Like doing the standup. Like he's putting in the leg work and making it happen. Whereas you watch some other standup specials in your leg, this doesn't seem super tight. Yeah, but then they go and do all the PR work and then it becomes huge.
Starting point is 00:09:56 You know what I mean? Right. Because they've done the leg work. Where their their commitment to the craft is committing to the PR instead of arguing either way, by the way, I'm just kind of like, this is fascinating to me to have him be like- I also haven't watched a cat Williams new special. Has he released a new special in a while?
Starting point is 00:10:13 I mean, I just watched that one in Florida where he just went for 20 minutes on the weather and I was rolling. Yeah, yeah. He's so pretty. I'm very, he's, he's, he's, he's so good. He's amazingly fun. I mean, I told you guys about the time when I did new faces in Montreal,
Starting point is 00:10:30 which is like a big, they invite the 20 new comics from around the world and call them the new faces of comedy blah, blah, blah. And they so I was invited and I performed my set. And then afterwards, the same crowd sat around for the masters. And Cat Williams was gonna be one of the masters. And as we're like going and we're sitting in the back, waiting to watch the show, and we had just gotten done, and it was pretty exciting,
Starting point is 00:10:57 because we just did our sets. And all of a sudden, these women come through that are basically wearing lingerie. I'm assuming prostitutes. Oh, they weren't stand-ups. No, they weren't look-stand-ups. They weren't masters. It was Amy Schumer.
Starting point is 00:11:11 They were masters though, right? They were masters. Whitney Cumming. They were masters of something. They were masters. Ladies and gentlemen, take-yo seats. Cat Williams is in the building. And they walk through the whole audience
Starting point is 00:11:23 just being like take your seats. Cat Williams has arrived. This is the professor I'm talking about. That's like the the woman from Carmen San Diego. This was oh six. I feel like he had it all together and oh six and then something better later after that. But that is so I think he realized I don't want to play the game of like having to do all the press and that kind of stuff I don't think he's cut out for it. Sorry. No, no I was just saying the same thing basically that that's like going above and beyond for the craft of that show that he's doing where he's being recognized as a Master for what he wants to do he doesn't give a fuck about he's a master of promoting that's just
Starting point is 00:12:02 Doesn't care. You know who you reminded me of? I mean, that sounds like he promoted pretty well if he has strippers going through to telling you to take your seats. Well, yeah, it seems like he was doing pretty well for that. I mean, you're right. Maybe you should talk to Cap, like,
Starting point is 00:12:15 maybe you should bend this a little bit. I would love to. You should have the one who told him to go do club chase, he listened to me. I do love if, if, if Blake just walked up and said one sentence to cat, I envision him looking at you for just a moment to let you know that was not okay to approach him and then walking away. But the vibe I get from cat is like, to me, here reminds me of Paul Mooney, who again, just every sentence he says is like the
Starting point is 00:12:44 funniest thing I've ever heard. Right. Yeah, I think he's a pretty prolific guy, but I think. I think in Kyle Mooney, which also. It's a super funny dude. Arguably kind of the same comic, Cat and Kyle Mooney. But kind of the same like, yeah, kind of the same vibe, same length here. Right. What else? Yeah. I mean, I just think that, you know, Cat likes to have a mystique and be mysterious. And I do also think he has the comedy to back it up.
Starting point is 00:13:09 But yeah, he's a bit of a... And he's a private guy. Like, you don't know, people don't know that he had all these adopted kids and stuff. What he does. And you're like, what? And they like took him away and shit. Who did?
Starting point is 00:13:21 Even the government. Oh, damn. Kevin Hart. That's why he's pissed. When? Here I'm trying to read about that right now. I feel like he was trying to say that all that shit was fucking bullshit. And December 28th 2012 was arrested on child endangerment charges. He was held in lieu of a hundred thousand dollar bail and his four of his adopted children were placed in protective custody. Oh shit. This is on Saturday, the entertainer's website.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The deal he's putting this here now. Now this is on the wiki on his wiki. Yeah, I read all this stuff the other day. He's a very troubled guy. He also like had this show in Oakland and then just like didn't show up.
Starting point is 00:14:03 And he sold like 20,000 tickets and like 2008 or something. Yeah, again, he's not good. Yeah. So we're waiting when he's on stage. It's professional. Adam. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Also, like that's what I'm talking about.
Starting point is 00:14:18 And he also like got in a fight with a Hechler and then just walked off stage. Yeah, well, and didn't come back and the audience is like, there's like thousands of people that are like, well, just kick the heckler out. You could still perform, right? So it's that those things that I feel like that's a stance.
Starting point is 00:14:33 I don't know if somebody, if somebody had the life tour hit Kyle, you don't think Kyle would have definitely got the car in that. On principle alone, I would have been the fuck out of there. I don't think he hit. It was like, he got a argument with a heckler. It wasn't a fist. Yeah, but I mean I get it Dude if he's like obviously he's the guy who gets hot when you have a bad day. Yeah, he gets too hot You can't even handle his own thoughts man. He's got a fucking go dude
Starting point is 00:14:58 Yeah, and you guys I can't remember Kyle you and Kat know each other from nothing nothing dude Cuz I know cuz I know where I met Kat. I know our deep roots, you and Kat know each other from nothing, nothing, dude. Cause I know, cause I know where I met Kat. I know our deep roots are relationship and aware that stemmed from. I'm just trying to, trying to be empathetic to the guy right now. You know what I mean? Sure. And I feel like I would, I could see that, that I would do the same thing. Be like, fuck this.
Starting point is 00:15:21 I'm fucking out of here. And then you're just like, at that point, it becomes a point of pride. When you're like, fuck it. But then I drew a line. Oops, I drew a line, my bad. Oh boy. But you, as a professional, Kyle, you have to go, you kick the guy who caused the trouble out.
Starting point is 00:15:38 And I have a job to do because these 5,000 people, or however many people were at that show, are here to see me perform and I have to give them a show. What you telling me that right now when I'm in Toronto, show as fuck, I get it. But right after I've drawn a line, like you don't know that I would see that in that moment.
Starting point is 00:15:57 You know, Adam, you know you did draw a line, right? I didn't know their line was drawn and I know how important lines are for Kyle. That's the scenario I'm concoct. And Blake froze and that's what's happening. Yeah. Blake froze while doing a line of cocaine off his hand. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:13 He does. He's doing a little snortle snortle. He gone. He gone back. He back. Woo. Okay, sorry about that. Cat.
Starting point is 00:16:22 Cat was at the door. I had to answer it real quick. Mm-hmm. I'm just saying cats He's done a bunch of stuff like that that that's the reason he fell off and it's nobody else's fault except for his own because I Think he was saying like yeah, I agree He's been blacklisted from Hollywood and Hollywood doesn't fuck with him and you're like well There's a reason any called Kevin Hart like a plant like they planted him there It's like well Kevin Hart did it his way you did it your way and your way caused these studios not to like you because you wouldn't show up on time
Starting point is 00:16:50 I read that entirely wrong. I thought he was calling him like a plant like his leaves. Oh Yeah, like like he always leaves was the play of words. I don't think you got it Yeah, I'm out of got that one wrong and that's that's my I haven't listened to the you might want to rewatch the three hours again Just yeah, check that out. I read I read the transcript because that's just how I digest wait one other thing about cat That I don't know if you guys knew this but circumcised dude I my main takeaway is dude used to go by cat in the hat Yes, that is crazy. He did have a bit of a rebrand, didn't he? Did not know that.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Like, what the fuck? I will say when he goes, when he's like, when he was saying like Chris Tucker was getting nickname by Michael Jackson, he's like, you ever let a great, another person give you a nickname and I'm like, aren't you cat? Yeah, is it your name cat? You chose.
Starting point is 00:17:44 Isn't your name Kat with two teeth? Kat, yeah. Yeah, what is his name? And a Kat. He was Kat in the hat until he got a cease and desist from Disney. That's like, that's what he says. And then he had to change his name to Kat Williams.
Starting point is 00:17:56 That's a multiverse right there. Like, Katherine Williams. Well, I also don't think Kat Kat in the hat is owned by Disney. Isn't that a? That's what I was thinking too. And that's where I'm like, hold on a second.
Starting point is 00:18:05 That's a Warner Brothers property, I believe. See, there's holes in the guy's stories. Yeah. See, that's where I was like, wait a minute. You know what, I don't know if Catboynes is exactly trustworthy. You might be spitting some yarns. And just to like protect a wine scene
Starting point is 00:18:19 for a second here? Oh, yeah. Oh, I'm always- I just don't buy that story. You have to. Yeah, I mean, like, guys I'm a monster, but I don't know. Yep. I'm just going to provide that story. You have to. Yeah, I mean, like, guys of a monster, but I don't know. Yep. I'm big on sarcasm in 2024.
Starting point is 00:18:29 Sorry, go ahead. That's huge. I love it. Over the past five years, making my true crime podcast, Hell and Gone, I've received hundreds of messages from people all around the country, asking for help with an unsolved murder that's affected them, their families and their communities. We may have some information for you. I don't have that help any. Maybe they saw something in something happened. In past seasons of Helen Gone, I've only been able to focus on one case. But I've launched
Starting point is 00:19:01 a new show on the Helen Gone feed, Helen Gone Murderline. Every week I've launched a new show on the Helen Gone feed, Helen Gone Murderline. Every week I've featured a new case, add updates to old ones, and help as much as I can to get the word out about unsolved murders. I'm Katherine Townsend. If you have a case you'd like me and my team to look into, you can reach out to us at our Helen Gone Murderline at 678-744-6145. Listen to Hell and Gone Murder line on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:19:36 At the Planet Money Podcast, we ask questions like, who decides when we're in a recession? Why does every insurance company seem to have a mascot? Do food expiration dates even matter? I'm Jeff Guo, co-host of NPR's Planet Money, where we bring you stories about people, about weird schemes and wonderful mistakes, to show you how the economy actually works. Listen to Planet Money from NPR on the iHeartRadio app

Starting point is 00:21:13 So we're talking a lot about stand-up or being on tour, and we just got off the tour, guys. This is pretty exciting shit. I finally feel like I've recovered. How many pounds have you guys lost each? I'm sitting pretty much the same. Yeah, I'm probably and shit. I finally feel like I've recovered. How many pounds have you guys lost each? I'm sitting pretty much the same. Yeah, I'm glad you're the same. I'm sticking to me a little bit.
Starting point is 00:21:30 Those buzz balls aren't shedding. I think I'd dropped about five pounds, but I didn't gain any weight on tour. We were in a little, okay. I gained all my weight prior to going on tour. Do you think you lost a lot of your beef muscle dog? No, I don't think so. Your boobs are huge some some beef muscle dog. You know what I did do after after tour. I I stopped I stopped fucking drinking caffeine dude. I was like, oh yeah, bitch. Yeah, yeah
Starting point is 00:21:57 Yeah, yeah, it was it was like Move along We move on. Do you want to be a little bit more? You just want to say that or do you want to move right along? I do. I read a book. Moving right along. Okay, so Kyle, how's that? Is it affecting your body? Yeah, I don't know. It's all right.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Well, that's cool. I mean, I had surgery again, but yeah, you quit caffeine. Cool. Sick. Yeah, I stopped it. Okay, so tell me about life without caffeine in Two seconds or less. Oh, good. So okay, so how's it going? Did you get headaches? Did you have withdrawal? It's cool But it's because no, it's because I was lean on it so hard and then the day after Christmas I fucking fainted
Starting point is 00:22:39 I fainted hard I went down really fucking hard dude. Yeah He is risen. Yeah, that's kind of crazy Yeah, that's why dude are you you know, how is your water intake? That's everyone always says to yeah I think it was due to dehydration because on that day I was like well I've had I was going to get a double espresso Okay, and and before that I was like well I've already had four fucking cups of coffee and I don't remember having water and so I So I was like all right. Sorry is coffee is coffee not hydrating? No, it's dehydrated. It dehydrates
Starting point is 00:23:13 Oh, that was like diarrhea. Yeah, yeah, I leaned so hard on that shit on the tour that I was like well I got a I got to put this in check My body, I collapsed in front of my family and my busiest way to collapse. I do, that is by far the bitchest way. If you collapsed in front of your children, they'd never gonna look at you the same. Yeah, I do. Your children are like, we're in charge now.
Starting point is 00:23:39 Dude, it sucks so bad, dude. My five year old started crying. Well, yeah, my wife went into protector mode and then my two year old was laughing hysteric I mean she started beating it kids was that mean she started kicking you. Yeah, no like just like picking me up and trying to take me to the bed Are you okay like really concerned? She just suplexed you? Yeah, you just hear us say oh thank God finally Kids get in the car. We're doing it. the plan is an action the plan is an action go She picks up the phone she's already on the phone with her lawyer all right, so it looks like it happened Can we transfer the funds now?
Starting point is 00:24:21 Base two is initiating so he did sign that life insurance clause correct yeah he knew a chunk to go it was so that's so protect your mode activate protect your face to win in the protector mode or like just general common sense mode yeah exactly and then my daughter was laughing hysterically. She's too, she just thought it was the funny shit. And I thought, what was you're doing? Ah ha, she's the comedian.
Starting point is 00:24:50 Dude, she's fucking dark. She's got a dark sense of humor. I like that. I like that. A dark, a dark, a dark. Well, that sucks, buddy. Yeah, definitely up your water intake. What I like to do is I like to double fish.
Starting point is 00:25:02 You got some coffee and then, you know, chug a big ass glass of water. So Kyle because I know you what have you replaced caffeine with? Yes. Tea. It's a bagel. Okay. It's just tea dude. I have and I still I'm doing sorry tea has caffeine right? No, no not like herbal teas. Herbal teas doesn't have caffeine at all. How have you tried Zoa? Have you tried Zoa? I'm trying to do that. And all that's what was tried to unleash the beast of energy during alcohol drink.
Starting point is 00:25:37 That is straight. I mean, I hadn't had a red bull in fucking like five or 10 years and on the tour, I was stepping on during the show. Oh yeah. I was going in the hammer. I know you do. Yeah. Is that why you almost fainted on stage?
Starting point is 00:25:54 I got a you might want to get some blood work done playboy. Yeah. I would get some blood work done because I drink. I feel like at the same level of caffeine or probably more than you drink. I did. I got blood. I got blood work done too. Okay. Rage. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:26:08 This dude's blood. Your blood is paste pican Tey. Oh, this dude's blood is classical. Yeah, now I'm like all up on, I'm like, I got a nutritionist. I'm like going, I'm going deep, dude. This dude's blood type is Chef Boyard D. Why love that for you, comp? Hey, you know what? Come on, we have...
Starting point is 00:26:26 Let me get him. We haven't retired him yet. Let me get him. We were gonna retire the points, but they're still here today. Types, McGuedeo. So we have a lot of... I mean, what would you guys say as far as tour goes? What was your favorite city? And why?
Starting point is 00:26:43 Oh, wait. Well, what is your favorite city in Y-? Oh, wait, well, what is your favorite city and why go? Oh, that is a tough one. I'll go first. Okay. Well, I just know it was Chicago. That was just very cool for me to finally meet my parents. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:26:57 I'm not getting rid of them. That was cool seeing that. Yeah, that was cool. Chad. Basically, to have homies there and then to get them backstage after the show, hang out with you guys, drink some beers. Baits of beta. That was pretty rad.
Starting point is 00:27:11 And the Chicago theater was no joke. Oh, man. Beautiful. The Chicago theater, that was our second stop on the tour. And that theater was so gorgeous. Like it had me a little shook. Was that so? Or that's when you didn't talk for 15 minutes in the middle of the show.
Starting point is 00:27:24 Well, that was the mallort. That was the mallort, but the lord hit chat. Yeah, you just slump. Come on, man, it was slumped. Oh, you just sick. He was sick. Yeah, there were other highlights, but just like in that context of like back home sweet home Chicago, that was up the ante.
Starting point is 00:27:41 And you guys go into my folks plays and us getting some Buffalo Joes. That was that was really special. It brings a tear to my eye. That was that was up the ante and you guys going to my folks plays and us getting some Buffalo Joe's that was that was really special brings a tear to my eye That was very special so though. I love it. Yeah, that was way fun. I mean, there's so many fun times on the tour I wish I miss it already. Yeah, it was very fun. Hmm pretty stoked to be home How we just toured I think I could do that forever. Oh really? I'm gonna see think I could do that Dude, there's no way I could have I was like no way I can't do another flight Yeah, three days a week just that I feel like when we did when we were gone for Longer than that when he ended up being five or six days
Starting point is 00:28:20 That was little too much But when it was like you fly out you do two shows you fly back home that that following day I feel like I could do that forever. It started. I'm on the same. I'm I'm on the same tip. I feel like I could do that Three times a year Right. Yeah, I feel like I feel like with two I feel like two months of that would have been the sweet spot by that third month I was like we did it right we did it you were feeling it third spot. By that third month, I was like, we did it, right? We did it. You were feeling it.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Third month, there was, we're good. He was done. Toasted. I remember being the airport and you're like, I'm not gonna talk this weekend. I'm like, that's not gonna be good. And we did.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Yeah. We did talk on the pod. And I did. I didn't cat one. This is the situation. Thank you. No, you did him. You little cat bastard. Yeah, I loved it. Besides besides the not being able to walk by the end of it and needing surgery because I fucked my
Starting point is 00:29:11 I know like did you remember? We almost died. I was in so much pain Yeah, you trooper it and and my hip I don't even tell you guys so they they I got a new hip I'm not a new hip, but another hip surgery on my left side. Last time I got the right side, they found all the shit in there. They thought it was just a torn labor. Diary.
Starting point is 00:29:31 They were like, there's, this is the cause of your diarrhea. Uh huh. The cause of diarrhea. What did they find in there? Well, yeah, my old keys. Micro machines from when I was a kid. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:43 Another stitch. Yeah. Fucking chicken, chicken rope. Yeah, I can chicken chicken rope. No cartilage had broken free and was floating in my hip joint. And they're like, that's essentially like that. I know. That's what I said in your hip, in your joint. So wait, are you maybe sharp? Are you cured?
Starting point is 00:30:01 Is it like, did we find it? That's part of it. That's part of it. So we fix that. And then essentially from that Or is it like, did we find it? That's part of it. That's part of it. So we fix that. And then essentially from that, you'll probably need a new hip in the next five years. So I'm like six, six, six. And so when they say new hip, does that mean that they like coat, because it's like a ball on socket, right?
Starting point is 00:30:17 Yeah. So do they like remove the top of the leg bone, the femur, or do they coat that in something in the science? And then they coat the socket in something. So you have, I believe it's like a full implant. I believe they like take your hip out and put the new hip in. Right.
Starting point is 00:30:32 So the whole thing that holds the femur, I think so. I think so. I mean, I don't know. I have not, I was just told this and I'm going to put off researching it for four and a half more years. I've definitely had people in my lives that have got hip surgeries,
Starting point is 00:30:47 but they're also old that when they talk about it, I do not listen. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, like it's like, you're too busy sexualizing them. Well, it's such an old person's surgery. And so it really sucks, because I'm doing a ton of physical therapy, you know, and so I'm doing a ton of physical therapy. Is that yeah? Everyone there, like I'll meet young people and they're like, what are you in for thinking
Starting point is 00:31:08 like knees? Do you hurt yourself playing basketball? And then I say hip and you see they like lose respect for me in the moment. The face. Yeah, no, we know your hip, but what do you hear for? I'm gonna go ahead and get in protective about. Oh, wow. So, so it's saying like producer and I just drop and it's not like they're not even taking out the whole hip. They're just replacing the damaged parts with like ceramic like fucking coffee cup. That's what I'm saying. That's what I thought. Yeah. So they take the they but they take the damaged part out and then replace the that new ceramic. They just go on your shit out the kill. Can they do that to my brain? As far as surgeries go, like in one of your joints, hips are the best ones.
Starting point is 00:31:48 The easiest to bounce back once again. Adam Devin. Adam Devin doesn't fuck around. He wants the best. He does the best. I want the best and the easiest. Hey, the diesel train. Wait, on a real, wait, just a circle back, please.
Starting point is 00:32:01 They went in and found baby shark cartilage, right? They did. Had they never been in there before? They'd only been in the other hip? They've only been in the other hip. And the other hip was just like there was an impingement and a torn labor, and they fixed the impingement and the labor.
Starting point is 00:32:18 And the labor. What is Blake just for people listening impingement is. It's science. Science. Right. Okay, so they'd is science. Science. Right. Okay, so they never been in this other house. You were, I thought we were queuing up the board. You want me to give an educated guest
Starting point is 00:32:33 to what impingement is? Yeah, it's gonna fun. I don't know what that pinchment was. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, can you, can you please me? You couldn't guess what impingement is. I, I would guess that it's when nerves are being pinched and they're in they're being impingement Yeah, something's pinched. That's very true. Something's pinched. It's a little it's actually a little tiny breath mint that you pinch
Starting point is 00:32:55 It's a little Impingment Okay, you have a little bit of a pile Kyle. What do you think? Oh, what's it's like a smin? Huh? What's a meat?. Thank you. An impenishment. An impenishment. An impenishment. What do you think an impenishment is, Kyle? It's obviously some kind of an obstruction of sorts. Oh, good answer. Good answer.
Starting point is 00:33:17 Good answer. Okay. Well, essentially it is. It's when your ball and socket and it's It's supposed to be a perfect circle and mine was shaped like an egg So when he would get all the way out it would catch on the So it would get and they were like as long as you're not ever doing the jas putts You'll be fine Totally dude and so then they they shaved it down to make it a perfect
Starting point is 00:33:47 So ball so we can move around the joint Probably so they did that to both hips and I'm moving around a lot better than I was those last handful of shows I was like in New York. I was just a shell of a man I would I would just get transported to the show. They shove me on stage. Yeah. They roll you out. Yeah. Place you in your sofa. Yeah. And we just let him rip. Give me my go juice. Here he goes again. That was. I do wish that you were like, yeah, I'm moving better. And then like, we hung out and saw you walk. And it was like crazy. But we couldn't tell you. I just gall you know, I just gallop everywhere I go.
Starting point is 00:34:27 You look like a fucking giraffe with diarrhea, just kinda like, you look like something out of dark crystal. Yeah, you look like a gorilla when he's up on his hind legs. Oh yeah, they walk hell of cool. Just like I always got a waddle. My boy's got a waddle. Got that walk.
Starting point is 00:34:44 And look it on you. And yeah, this was good. Kyle, what do you think your favorite city, both maybe to perform in and hang out in? Yeah. I think to, I think the, my favorite performance might have been San Antonio. I really liked.
Starting point is 00:34:58 I just want to part. I really liked that show. I thought it was fun. That's the start. When I sang Selena and that was like, oh yeah. So I'm like back in the recesses of like, yeah, that was great. Deep brain.
Starting point is 00:35:09 Yeah, the deep brain. Well that's how. And it was like, but also there was Columbus. What the fuck? I do not remember Columbus. What the hell happened there? That was when I called gas was at that show. Oh, Chorglombus.
Starting point is 00:35:21 Yeah, whichever one. Yeah, yeah. Chorglombus. I think we had, I think I had the recliner at that show and I really love that it was such a comfy show That was nice. We also had just gone from Cleveland Cleveland and did the Rucker will Hall of Fame. Oh, yeah, I feel like that gave us a lot of fun and ammo to talk about all the cool shit We had just see a good call Adam
Starting point is 00:35:45 Good call and I was I really wanted the funny MO to talk about the cool shit we had just see a good call Adam. Yeah. Yeah. Good call. And I was, I really wanted the, uh, the like Litts wing. I was like really confused. A couple of mud didn't have a wing there. Did we call ourselves Crownuts? I can't remember. I can't.
Starting point is 00:35:58 Young Crowards, dude. And it's been a while. Yeah. Young Crowards. Cheryl Crowman. I mean, she doesn't get the love and respect that she deserves. Yeah, young Cheryl Crow. Woo.
Starting point is 00:36:09 She's a hottie. Yeah, dude, it's out of control. But she just did the rock and roll Hall of Fame. I think she just got inducted. Or at least she performed at the thing that was on TV the other night. Good for her. Well, I mean, they sure had a spread for her already
Starting point is 00:36:22 at the rock and roll Hall of Fame. They did. Yeah. So she must have been inducted before. Yeah, I hope so. Or they knew that she was going to get inducted. So they're like, hey, let's make sure the young crow hard to have something to look at.
Starting point is 00:36:33 As grab her bell bottoms. Yeah, her little lace up leather bell bottoms. Get those little bell bombs on display. It was wild to see you would see like a piece of clothing and it transported you right back to watching those videos in the late 90s. Yeah, early 2000s. Like I saw the red Fedora and I go that's kid rocks red Fedora. Oh, fuck yeah. Instantly transported.
Starting point is 00:36:55 Yeah, I think I was sitting next to Dersen. You were like, how do you know that? And I was like, I don't know. I just know and then sure enough it was. Yeah, it just took over your body like a bad ass. You want to to say Adam's eyes rolled in the back of his head and he's like you can get rocks presence is near yeah I'm sensing kid raw with a bond I am an American badass you understand the illegitimate son of man um was Columbus in the the Mason jar yes yes it was it was in the Mason's free Yes, I think it was.
Starting point is 00:37:25 It was in the Mason's. It's free Mason's. Yeah, yeah, go go go. Snap lace has some tunnels underneath. I bet. No, that was that was Cleveland. Where was that Adam? That was Cleveland.
Starting point is 00:37:35 That was Cleveland. That was the one right before. OK, Columbus was the one that we had the tiny dress in room and the elevator to it was like four stories of the dressing room. And then I was kept taking the shitty elevator up and down like I'm gonna get I'm gonna die in here It would have been cool and then with that cool old-ass Caine or guy was like hey Ryan gas came and kicked it with Kyle gas. Oh, sorry
Starting point is 00:37:57 Kyle gas I'm not right son and son Ryan a lot of people don't know who's Ryan get I think I went to high school with a Ryan gas Actually, I know I'm in there and I hated to correct you was your friend from my That's my bad. Yeah, those are great shows. Those are really fun shows. Yeah, that's where um yeah, go ahead Blake I had to but I would have to say I mean Seattle was fucking fun as fuck That was Halloween and we all had the costumes and it was just a blast.
Starting point is 00:38:26 And dude, and also like our old friends from way back in the day that we haven't seen and probably like legit 15 years came out. And it's cool to connect with people that there was a girl friend group that we knew that none of us had ever hooked up. There was no like mixing like that. It was just like they were a fun group of girls to go hang out and party with when we were in our early 20s And not that I didn't want to they just they just were interested
Starting point is 00:38:58 But it was cool to see them like we were such good friends back then and then they moved away and we hadn't seen each other in 15 years to reconnect it was fucking awesome. Yeah. I went right back to just being drunk around him. It was fun. Oh yeah. I'm really busy. And Christie Allison. Yeah. We saw Mary and Cleveland. Yep. Yep. Mary is a part of after after Seattle. That's when I tried LSD with bless. Oh, yeah, it was kind of tired. This guy quit caffeine, but he's on that LSD. Yeah, gave up caffeine in alcohol. He's like, yeah, I have a nutritionist. He really helped the, yeah, did a lot of acid on the tour. Yeah. Yeah. It was like in the form of a spray. It was a spray. It was it kicked in a little late for me like yeah I started to hit me day two. So did you go to bed? Were you able to go to sleeper?
Starting point is 00:40:10 Late? That's my trouble with doing drugs when you're out. You're like well I'm gonna want to go to bed in about 3 a.m. I don't want to stay up at 6 a.m. and like look at my bedspray and be like no I was able to sleep like Blake, you were able to sleep, right? Yeah. I can't remember, but. No. I like, Blake's like, I slept. So upside down in my closet.
Starting point is 00:40:31 But I slept. Yeah, I woke up hanging from my ankles. It was weird. Just do what I thought he was Michael Keaton. That's it. I just remember that, yeah, the next morning, I went and played pickleball, and that shit fucking looked cool, dude.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Like, I saw the angles. I saw the matrix. You think you played pickleball and that shit fucking look cool dude. Like I saw the singles. I saw the Matrix. You think you played pickleball that morning? Yeah. This dude was in the hotel lobby with a clipboard like, yeah. Yeah. With a clipboard.
Starting point is 00:40:55 He'll be fine. He'll find his way. Those are apples to be eaten. Welcome back to the double tree. The Apple. Over the past five years, making my true crime podcast Helen Gone, I've received hundreds of messages from people all around the country, asking for help with an unsolved murder that's affected them, their families, and their communities.
Starting point is 00:41:20 We may have some information for you. I don't have that help any. Maybe they saw something and something happened. In past seasons of Helen Gone, I've only been able to focus on one case. But I've launched a new show on the Helen Gone feed, Helen Gone Murder Line. Every week, I've featured a new case, add updates to old ones, and help as much as I can
Starting point is 00:41:42 to get the word out about unsolved murders. I'm Katherine Townsend. If you have a case you'd like me and my team to look into, you can reach out to us at our Hell and Gone Murder line at 678-744-6145. Listen to Hell and Gone Murder line on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. At the Planet Money Podcast, we ask questions like, who decides when we're in a recession? Why does every insurance company seem to have a mascot?
Starting point is 00:42:16 Do food expiration dates even matter? I'm Jeff Guo, co-host of NPR's Planet Money, where we bring you stories about people, about weird schemes and wonderful mistakes, to show you how the economy actually works. Listen to Planet Money from NPR on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey everyone, it's Sophia Bush, host of podcast work in progress. I am thrilled to tell you that work in progress is back for a third season. My friends, it has never been more important than right now for us to have all of these
Starting point is 00:42:59 big conversations. Together, we are going to get educated, a little bit enlightened, and we will definitely be entertained. I started work in progress because I'm a curious person and I realized there are so many people I get to speak to that are fascinating and rare. And so I thought why not take these conversations out into the world. I'm going to be having deep chats with thought leaders, news makers, celebrities, entertainers, authors, elected officials, and more.
Starting point is 00:43:31 You can join us and listen to work in progress on the I Heart Radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts. That's a good thing. Kansas City was rowdy, dude. They were so freaking hyped in Kansas City. Yeah, it was about to say that crowd was fucking nuts, dude. That was a good My parents went to both shows and my dad was like he blamed us. He was like you guys really brought it in Kansas City Would you phone in brought it in Kansas City. Would you phone in it in? And Omaha? Those are our last two shows. That actually sounded like your dad there. And I go, I mean, no, we weren't phoning it in. It's the podcast was just us talking. Like, you know, we we had it. It's it's always phoned in bad, but yeah, it's always phoned
Starting point is 00:44:20 in. Do you know what his? Cause yeah, I can never tell like if we're phoning it in or not, like right right now, we are. Yeah. Well, right now, dude. Do you know what his, cause yeah, I can never tell like if we're phoning it in or not. Like, right, right now we are. Yeah, right now we are. This is a phone. What's his metric? Why did he as an audience member think that we were phoning it in?
Starting point is 00:44:35 I think it was because the Omaha audience were a great audience. They did it. They were fantastic. But they didn't, they weren't as rowdy. I think they were respectful. They were like, but they didn't, they weren't as rowdy. I think they were respectful. They were like actually very excited and were just a more respectful crowd,
Starting point is 00:44:50 which some crowds are more respectful. Chicago was like that. Chicago was not uproarious, but they were big and, yeah, we sold a lot of tickets. Like, oh, we were packed to the fucking brim. There's 3000 people there. It was wild. Dude, I saw a person standing in the aisle
Starting point is 00:45:07 Yeah, that was wild did without a city. Yeah and and I just feel like they were just a more courteous crowd Yeah, Kansas City was just debauchery so I had a white right word by the way They were unbelievable. I mean dude Kansas City out of control Omaha very courteous Yes, and Kansas City debauchery debauchery There was people got fucked up
Starting point is 00:45:34 And then we went party with my family afterwards and I mean my aunt patty I'm belly up with that. Yeah, patty is a fucking legend. Yeah, just fucking pound and shots and patty style. Love it. Yeah, I was wrestling with your uncle on the dance floor. Dude, I thought he was gonna, I thought he was gonna fucking kick your ass, bro. Uncle Matt throwing it down and Cindy was there. Aunt Julie and Julie who you rarely see throw down.
Starting point is 00:46:02 Yeah, was going for it. That was a blast. She threw down. She punched me in the face. Yeah, she wiped up tears. Yeah, what the hell? No, I caught it in my mouth, though. But technically, that is the face. I feel for me, I think it was fairly early on.
Starting point is 00:46:16 It was that Phoenix show. I just thought it was wild. Okay. The celebrity theater show where it's in the round. And the farthest seat away in that theater is like 70 feet, the celebrity theater show where it's in the round and And the farthest seat away in that theater is like 70 feet, which is not very far Yeah, and so it felt like you know right on top of you and you know There's 2500 people there and they were wild and crazy They're like trying to climb on the stage and shit
Starting point is 00:46:39 That's that yeah, that was the only show where I was like I think we're not gonna be alone on stage by the end of this. It was way wild, which was just really fun. I was like, damn, this is, it was like Hurting Cats. Yeah, that one was off the chain. Hurting Cats? I meant, Oh, Hurting Cats. Hurting, yeah, not for me. Sorry, different things, different things.
Starting point is 00:47:00 It was like ripping cats in half. Yeah. I thought you were talking about bending their legs this way way and I was like where are we doing it? And then you I miss I miss understood Herding it was hurting bro. We real real quick Seattle thing No, yeah, I was just back home. You're dick um and What?
Starting point is 00:47:21 What's taking that chucky costume Come on. We're all thinking it. I was like, did you memory? Oh yeah. Got me going. 69, 10. I can't forget that. I see it when I close my eyes. Apparently.
Starting point is 00:47:38 Teres is circling back for that. Looks like you got a hand grenade down there, bro. What the hell? Is that a good shape It's like a Cornish game in and you said head. It's like a Cornish games hand Oh, man, all right Think of two more things that I don't think we're gonna just let me tell the story real quick. I was at home water And uh my mom had like these pictures out on like a table that she was like going through because they're like trying to move soon or whatever. And there was a picture of
Starting point is 00:48:11 her and my brothers and my dad at the like, what is the fish market right there? Yeah. Like standing at the bottom of those, they were like a cousins wedding and I was at a swim meter, some shit. And they were standing at the bottom of those stairs to the restaurant that we went eight out. Oh, what was that place called? Oh, was it called mats? My mats, mics. Yeah, but this picture likes, fucking.
Starting point is 00:48:33 Mats and pipes. 15, 20 years ago. No mats at the market, I believe. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I was like, dude, I was just there a few weeks ago. That's crazy. Like standing right there. That's awesome. I love that city. It was just weird. It was just like a fucking weird thing. that's crazy. Like standing right there. That's awesome.
Starting point is 00:48:45 I love that city. It was just weird. It was just like a fucking weird thing. Yeah, that city is weird. And we had really good weather. The whole trip was fucking cool. It's cool to see all the cities. Yeah, man, the LSD rocked, bro.
Starting point is 00:48:56 I feel awesome. Was this shit? Austin was the shit. I did. Yeah. Texas had me scared when I was smoking weed behind after the Texas had me scared There were a couple places that were I'm like where am I in my is this are you that was the LSD Yeah, I was all the LSD you're finally kicked in you're fine cow. I know but people backstage would be like oh
Starting point is 00:49:16 Oh, oh, you got to put it out. I'm like what the fuck state in my end where you can't smoke weed like Texas Texas Yeah, you're in Texas. Are you asking me? I didn't know where I was. Texas, and I didn't like that part. Well, you knew where you were because you flew there. We all traveled there together. You knew where you were.
Starting point is 00:49:34 Yeah, it was Texas. I didn't like that part. Okay, cowboy house, cowboy boots. I think that Texas rub was probably my favorite because we drove from, was it? I mean, dude, just at the driving was the most fun because then you stop at a weird truck stop or weird gas station. We all get out.
Starting point is 00:49:50 We, you know, check us Lavaqian. Can we talk Waco sir? Yeah, Waco. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Waco surf was awesome, dude. I mean, that was a very, that was a highlight. That was fucking sick.
Starting point is 00:50:01 I'm not even a good surfer. So we stopped at Waco surf. And it was it was planned. But Waco's surf is like one of the I think there's they said there's two or three in the whole country where they have these like man made waves man made waves and they are perfect and they can they could give you like a hundred different types of waves. And they gave us like, you know, you guys are beginners here this will get you up and Sure enough We could all get up
Starting point is 00:50:29 They said we broke some sort of record. Yeah Yeah, it was great guys right after all right after us. They were like oh we get out We're like all right. We actually did it. Oh Yeah, and then they're like wow good job guys wow man way to go all right We're up next and then they're like, wow, good job guys. Wow, man, way to go. All right, we're up next. And then they turn on the music. And it was suddenly like, ba-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na one of those guys was either a pro or a semi pro and then those were like his homies and they were just crazy. They were absolutely not with it. There was that dude out there just in like a Texas flag speedo and a cowboy hat and neither of them were coming off as he shredded the waves. How's that
Starting point is 00:51:16 work? Crazy. Wait, what's what? And do you think the speed? I was like, do you think the speedo should come off somehow? I was watching. I was waiting. I was just Rubbing his hands on the shoreline like I bet one of them comes off one of them is gonna come off Anybody want to make a bet? Anybody want to make a bet which one I can get off first. Oh boy. If those aren't coming off. I'm coming off Look at that boys hand grenade right there. he's got a hand grenade and a water balloon. Is that a boxing glove in his pants? Or is he just happy to see?
Starting point is 00:51:50 Is that a long horn in his pants? Cornish damage. No, the damn. The damn. So what are your memories from the tour, Blake? You're dig in the costume, the one guy in the speedo. Speedo, his dick, who's other dick? Who's other dick?
Starting point is 00:52:04 What else, what else, what else, what else, what else, what else? It was always the speedo. His dick, who's other dick? Who's other dicks? What else? What else? What else? What else? What else? It was always the next morning, I would, you know, you talk to Isaac the next morning, and he'd be like, oh, yeah, well, you know, we left the bar and went home and he's like, yeah, and then Blake wouldn't leave my hotel room. I'm like, what? He's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, yeah, it was like 4 a.m. And Blake was just like drinking all my beers. What Blake would do most nights would go, I want to see.
Starting point is 00:52:29 We go on a sea. I'm changing to his pajamas. We go back to the hotel. We would go to bed. Blake would then follow Isaac to his room, drink all of his beers and then, and then fall asleep on his floor. And Isaac had to be like, yo, you have to go to your room. You have to go to your room.
Starting point is 00:52:49 I don't like you guys telling me to show my tits. I just like the guy. I least my late night captain. Yeah. Because yeah, I mean, it's tour life, baby. I'm just trying to make you go. I'm just trying to make the night's last as long as possible. I love that.
Starting point is 00:53:02 Yeah. He likes sunrises. But you've got to get up the next morning, dude. Yeah, I drank in your room a couple nights. Yeah. It was fun. Like that, like in New York, when we were all drinking, I think in your room, and then the next day we had
Starting point is 00:53:13 press to go do, like much like cat Williams. And now you get in. And then you didn't show up, and we're like, where's Blake? And then you called, and then you are mad at us. I give him a call. You're like, well,? And then you called and then you were mad at us. I give him a call. You were like, well, why didn't you, no, he was mad at you. He was mad at you.
Starting point is 00:53:30 Yeah. Then we went out to lunch after we went and did press. Me and Blake went out to eat in New York. And he goes, he goes, why didn't you like seven alarm for me? We were all drinking in my room. Like, why didn't you make sure? Why didn't you take my phone?
Starting point is 00:53:43 And it was even just like, why don't you tell me what time We were getting up and it's like you have all the information. I'm like, you know, you knew what and you say well You saw how drunk I was last night. Why didn't you like make sure that I was I'd get up I stopped it's not my fault No This is 40, but yeah, man Oh, you got it you got a set alarm you want to be on the leash? You're off the leash Come on. Hey, I made it to the press. I did it. All right. I was just a little
Starting point is 00:54:11 Yeah, but I called you like three times from the lobby, dude Like I said, wake your eyes tone got real for you. I was testing you guys. Well, I guess Blake is She's got what dude, which by the way, we all respect you did respect you did we all love you You're gonna make a dough podcast. I'm gonna talk shit about it. We got you a coffee Remember and I appreciate that yeah, we took care of you bro. We had your back Don't yell at me coffee is kind of trying to kill me. Well, I got him the coffee. I got him the coffee I was with you. It was my idea remember and then you're I paid for the coffee you did you like to pay pay for things and I think that's cool about you bro Is that how you make up for stuff you you buy you buy your apologies? I buy I like that. It's a level language
Starting point is 00:54:51 I think it's cool. Yeah gifts. I was just doing a nice thing for Blake. Yeah, thank you Adam My idea so then we go to Austin, Texas and Austin was Radical we had a great time in Austin. I don't remember Austin You don't remember going to that dope dinner Jeffries. Oh, yeah That was delicious. That was very good. That was good. The bread the bread. Oh my god the bread if you're in If you're in Austin, yeah, God I go to Jeffries. I don't I'm not trying to sound like a simpleton But the bread was off the Oh, yeah, I remember they were turnovers. Oh yeah, the brothers. They were I believe they are popovers. What the fuck Yeah, popover I believe something but they were
Starting point is 00:55:32 It's something Yeah, that place was over. That was good. That was yummy. Um, yeah, I'm young. We like that. That was yummy Yeah, and that and that was essentially that's tour man and then it was it. Sorry Sorry if we forget your city We do okay top three top three worst cities go This is a burn. Well, I didn't like that Dallas didn't let us throw out buzz balls I will say that and the same goes for San Diego That was the other thing about Texas. They would not let us throw buzzies. That was
Starting point is 00:56:03 Too many rules, bro. I think there was only one or two places that wouldn't Let us throw up buzz balls every place after we throw up us balls was pretty about hurt that we threw out the buzz Well, yeah, it caused our audience to throw up to be fair I'd definitely hit like a speaker full on and it exploded and yeah, and the audience members were throwing up in the aisles and It was yeah, we were pretty sloppy But even the cities that like weren't the most fun cities to go to yeah Our fans showed up in those cities and were wild and it was so much fun and Big shout-outs to everyone that that got a ticket and came out
Starting point is 00:56:41 It was so fun to see everybody you guys really made us feel like rock stars, man, which was fun. Yes, points! And the repeat offenders, we have people coming to multiple shows. Why not? Yeah, that was wild. That was sick.
Starting point is 00:56:55 It's like we were the fucking dead, man. Bro, the freaking podcast. I feel like comedy, grateful dead. I'll tell you. And we're grateful. And for that, we're grateful. And we are very grateful. I'm very grateful. And Kyle does the LSD, so we're grateful and to and for that we're grateful and we are very grateful and Kyle does LSD So we're not that far. Oh, yeah, dude. I'm not mad at it. I'm not mad at LSD and I cherry garcy
Starting point is 00:57:16 Rooms there were shrooms everywhere that was pretty cool Portland was full of shrooms. That was great We also were given literal double bags full of weed in multiple city. Yeah, we got to reach out to your brother Kyle, because he's got my way in California show that we did was absolutely wild. Yeah, Adam knew a check. He got he took all of our weed and he was like, don't worry, I'll get it. I'll get it to you guys. I'll drive it down and I'll I'll hook you guys up. Radio silent. Radio silence since he took four duffle bags full of weed home.
Starting point is 00:57:48 I can't reach it. Yeah, well, the bro's pretty smart. You know what I mean? Yeah. I bet he's a popular guy. He's a new a check. That's for sure. Yeah, he's got.
Starting point is 00:57:56 I know that he's got a freezer full of mushrooms, dude. That bro is he's going. Oh, cool. I think he's becoming a little mushroom man. Mushrooms rock, dude. Mushrooms are the best. best. I didn't say that's a family. That's what our family I don't know they only crest I bet I've done more mushrooms than you have oh Dude I've been getting after it lately, but maybe okay. There's ways to catch up. I dig it. Oh, yeah
Starting point is 00:58:22 Okay, that's a cool bet, bro. Well, there's no way to prove it. But for 16 to about 22, I took name all the times. I took, I mean, I probably did an eighth of mushrooms two to three dozen times. Well, yeah. Okay. Yeah. Your quantity is up because I'm a micro-duose. Feet micro-duose. Okay. You are a little shit. You are a little shit. You are a micro-duose, bro. You are a micro-duose, you will shit. Yeah, I do. Yeah, I do.
Starting point is 00:58:51 But to me, I get it because doing a little bit of mushrooms is fun and you're just a little giggly and stuff, but don't you ever just want to try? The tree likes to go dark. I don't go dark. I go, I mean, I'm on a different planet, but that to me is the point of doing mushrooms. You want to go see what Mars is like, you know?
Starting point is 00:59:07 You're a monster. Oh, yeah. I'm like, that's new. I'm not, I'm not, I don't really want to dive in super hard. I just like to dabble. I like to fucking micro do. Have you ever actually tripped on? No, I just do the little trips.
Starting point is 00:59:23 I just do the little, little I just do the little baby trips. That's it. Just kind of live my life on mushrooms. You know what I mean? Which I like it. Pizza, pizza. I guess that's the responsible thing. Because imagine you're high as a kite
Starting point is 00:59:36 and then you faint. You collapse. And then you have to go in protect your mouth. You're sitting by the pool with your children. Right. I know exactly what you're talking about. Imagine then you suddenly have to go in protect your mode for some reason and you're just high as a cat.
Starting point is 00:59:52 And then your family just looks at you and it's just you hugging a cactus in your back. Right. That's the thing. And he's like, he went in protect your mode. Oh dear. Oh god. Kids, grab your go bags. This is it. The plan's in effect.
Starting point is 01:00:05 I'm going to go. Over the past five years, making my true crime podcast Hell and Gone, I've received hundreds of messages from people all around the country, asking for help with an unsolved murder that's affected them, their families, and their communities. We may have some information for you. I don't have that help any. Maybe they saw something and something happened.
Starting point is 01:00:30 In past seasons of Helen Gone, I've only been able to focus on one case. But I've launched a new show on the Helen Gone feed, Helen Gone Murderline. Every week I've featured a new case, add updates to old ones, and help as much as I can to get the word out about unsolved murders. I'm Katherine Townsend. If you have a case you'd like me and my team to look into, you can reach out to us at our Helen Gone Murder Line at 678-744-6145. Listen to Helen Gone Murder Line on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever
Starting point is 01:01:07 you get your podcasts. At the Planet Money Podcast, we ask questions like, who decides when we're in a recession? Why does every insurance company seem to have a mascot? Do food expiration dates even matter? I'm Jeff Guo, co-host of NPR's Planet Money, where we bring you stories about people, about weird schemes and wonderful mistakes, to show you how the economy actually works. Listen to Planet Money from NPR on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey everyone, it's Sophia Bush, host of Podcast Work in Progress. I am thrilled to tell you that Work in Progress is back for a third season.
Starting point is 01:01:57 My friends, it has never been more important than right now for us to have all of these big conversations. Together we are gonna get educated, a little bit enlightened, and we will definitely be entertained. I started work in progress because I'm a curious person, and I realized there are so many people I get to speak to that are fascinating and rare. And so I thought why not take these conversations out into the world? I'm going to be having deep chats with thought leaders, news makers, celebrities, entertainers, authors, elected officials,
Starting point is 01:02:34 and more. You can join us and listen to work in progress on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts. I did mushrooms one time and we're all highest kites and we are exploring this. He's making it up. No, no, we were in Joshua Tree and we're exploring these like caves and it's like this rock face and we climb over top And we get down into this caves and there's like all these little mini caves around We're like, oh, this is kind of a cool place and then we look in and there's like a pit of like animal bones Mm-hmm, and we're like oh this is where like
Starting point is 01:03:19 What Bob cats or whatever fucking cats big cats are out in Joshua tree. And we freak out where like this is their home. This is like the end of the gray when he's with all those caves and they come out all the where there the wolves come out and and murder Liam. And he puts the like little alcohol bottles between his knuckles right. Oh, yeah, that's right. Yeah. It's a rock.
Starting point is 01:03:43 But then we're like we're like oh shit We're in the middle of these caves. There's probably Bob cats or whatever and these caves right here And we're like we got to get out of here and we get out and we run for what we think is forever And then we sit down and relax and we're like oh man that was life or death We could have fucking died right then that was wild the next day we woke up and saw how far we ran It was like 30 feet. We ran. I mean, maybe 30 yards, 30 yards. It was like, so you guys slept outside under like, just under the stars. No, we were just out like all night. Oh, then you went back to investigate
Starting point is 01:04:18 the steam of the crime. Yeah, the next morning we woke up and then went back to see where we went. And we were like, oh, this is where we sat. And those are the caves. We ran like maybe 30 yards. Right. And then you go in and you look at the bones and there's fucking KFC bucket right by it. I know. And we checked your Uber eats.
Starting point is 01:04:40 Yeah. We got you. We smashed. It was all along. We're the wolves man Love that chicken and papas I ate the bones That would be a great thing to get super fucking high and just eat the bones. Yeah, dude I dare you to eat the bones. It's in the commercial just for the bit Just for the bit I ate in the bones. No, he really did you really did try it. You're gonna like it oh
Starting point is 01:05:12 Huh, have you guys ever done? No, you guys haven't right what mushrooms? Have you ever tripped on mushrooms? Yeah No, sir. I don't like it. Yeah, I'd like to I'd like to do it more It'd be cool to go to the desert with you guys and like really get out. You know what would be actually, not actually, not what you said. Yeah, not me. You know what it actually would be really fun.
Starting point is 01:05:34 But what would be fun would be to take my boat, we go to Catalina. We camp in Catalina and we do mushrooms that night when that would be. I'm in, I love that idea. Can I ask you a question? I'm about to have a child in a month. What makes that actually bet? What makes doing it a Catalina outstanding? Just because you're on an island away from everything the nature there's extra cool
Starting point is 01:05:56 It's extra when you look up at the stars there. There's the light pollution a lot better Yeah, yeah, yeah way out there. It has its perks. It's perks. Yes, I have Buffalo. It's wild. You know, the weird thing I've never done Shrooms Buffalo wings. I've never done Shrooms, but it's mostly, this is how like of a child I am, because I just don't like the taste of mushrooms. Yeah, but they got them in gummies.
Starting point is 01:06:20 Like when we came back on the train from San Diego, that's when I was just like popping them because I was hungry. Yeah, you could get them on chocolates and stuff. Don't you still taste the mushroom? Like I don't even like a fancy mushroom that you get on like pasta and shiitake. None of them like a truffle truffle. Like truffles gross to me.
Starting point is 01:06:37 I don't like truffle. I don't like truffle either. I'm not a fan either. Yeah. People people went overboard with the truffle in the truffle era. Yeah, it's too much, but you're not, you're, these things, these gummies don't even taste like mushrooms, dude.
Starting point is 01:06:51 People always tell you how gross mushroom, like it's not that bad, you're just fucking... I'm not talking about mushrooms, like psychedelic. I'm talking about regular ass mushrooms on the pizza. I'm like, the toki. Oh, yeah. Yeah, but then... But also, those are slimy. These are just dry, it as like even beep jerky that gets you fucked up kind of good
Starting point is 01:07:09 But just eat the ones in the fucking gummies. They taste so yummy. There's that too. Yeah, you're we're past all that shit There's also now you can get it in chocolate brother has mine, but yeah, yeah, probably has yeah in San Diego We got a ton I remember and it was was like, must be nice. Ask your brother. He's already sold them back to a dispenser. Just bags on bags. Well, they're fucking legal up here. I think they're legal or they're close that we go up here in Toronto.
Starting point is 01:07:34 Like close to legal. Because you know how weed was like semi legal for a little bit? I think it's in that era. I don't, where it's like, it's medicinal. And they're like, for what? And they're like, we don't know. We just are trying to get fucked up and we haven't. It's medicinal and they're like for what? And they're like, we don't know. We just are trying to get fucked up
Starting point is 01:07:46 And we haven't say it's medicinal. Yeah, five months. They're gonna just bust every store that sells it It's gonna be raised. Yeah, take all their cash. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. We know what they're doing out there Blake, it's really cool to see the side of you Blake. Thanks, man. I'm getting super political this year. That's my polychar new year's resolution poach. It's tapping. Oh, good. My resolution is to vote. Okay. Yeah, you've never done that? Not yet, man. It sounds fun. Oh, wow. Honestly, this is like to start now, worst idea.
Starting point is 01:08:19 Yeah, right. I get the day when it was kind of fun and cool and nobody gave a fuck. Now it's like, yeah, but who'd you vote for just so I know if you can come in my house or not? Yeah, right. Who did you vote for for city council? Right, you actually have to care about shit like now that we're old. We have to like go like like home running the neighborhood Yeah, it sucks. It sucks caring about Yeah, it sucks is the sucks caring about something 40. Yeah, it sucks is the worst of 40's the worst 40 fucking blows
Starting point is 01:08:48 On a part so you are Yeah, I think I am I watch the Iowa caucus last night, but I thought it was something else, but I did And we're back I was tuning in. You were like, is this the movie Dave? I was watching this ain't Dave, but I guess not. This ain't Dave. It's just people fucking a dead body. Wasn't Dave the movie where he's the president and he's like a look alike for the president?
Starting point is 01:09:20 Yeah, yeah. There's a lot of really good presidential movies. That's one of them. The first kid is another. Yeah, first kid to a gay. The bed. I want the SinBadder interview on Shasha. That's what I was watching. After a cat, I was like, I gotta watch some SinBad.
Starting point is 01:09:36 And dude, it's nice. He, after a cat. It's unbelievable how funny he is about everything. Yeah, he's underrated. I think he's been kind of lost to the 90s and I've been kind of sucks. Yes. It's because he didn't keep it going, but I think he said a lot of health issues. I just was.
Starting point is 01:09:54 He's passed away, but yes. No, Symbad's not dead. Yes he is. What? Yeah, I don't know if Symbad said it. I don't think Symbad is dead. Oh no, I don't think he is easy. I think Durs, I'm going gonna default to Durs on this one
Starting point is 01:10:06 I can either confirm nor deny I remember there was a scare no he is still alive 67 years old still alive. Okay, Durs you fuck me You fuck me very much alive, but he's I think he's had some health issues I think he just had a stroke, not too long ago. He had something going on like a few years ago, right? But he's still alive. He's still one of our best. If you haven't watched any of his movies or stand up, tap in because the guy is a comedy
Starting point is 01:10:37 guy. Yeah, so he just announced that he is recovering from a stroke. He had it in 2020. That's right. Which I thought he had some other stuff before that, but maybe not, I don't know. He was on sunny. Yeah, he was.
Starting point is 01:10:49 He was. He was. He did a great job. I remember when he was on there, I was like, Oh, fuck. Oh, well, air Griffin. Air Griffin. We got air Griffin.
Starting point is 01:10:57 We got air Griffin. I guess he's had a lot of tax issues. He owed $2.5 million in personal income tax. He had a chapter seven bankruptcy. Bankruptcy. By the way, I thought that was chapter 11. He had to sell like a two and a half acre at Hilltop Hall. No, he was chapter seven.
Starting point is 01:11:12 It's funnier. It's funnier. It's funnier. All right, all right. I don't know the chapters of bank. Chapter 11's bankruptcy. I don't know what chapter 12 is. What's chapter two? You never hear about that. Well, it's another, it says, filed for chapter seven bankruptcy bankruptcy. That is the liquidation under the bankruptcy laws of the US
Starting point is 01:11:29 in contrast to bankruptcy under chapter 11, under chapter 13, which govern the process of reorganization of debt. Oh, and this is why I'm voting. This is a liquidation, not a reorganization. We're liquefying. Right, right. There's a whole book with chapters, I guess,
Starting point is 01:11:44 on bankruptcy. And this happened right' a fine-to-age. Right, right, okay. There's a whole book with chapters, I guess, on bankruptcy. And this happened right before you died? Dernus. He's not dead, you son of a bitch. Very much alive. But if Sinbad can fall to the tax man, we're all right there. We all gotta make sure we keep our taxes fully paid up. Absolutely, and that's our message for 2024.
Starting point is 01:12:03 That's what we're gonna leave you with. Vote and pay your taxes. Yeah, man. We've changed. I like this new pod. Yeah, this is 40. This is 40. Welcome to this is tax talk.
Starting point is 01:12:14 Zero points pay your taxes. Brought to you by TurboTax. Now dude, I would love if we're just sponsored by TurboTax. We just do TurboTax commercials now. Yeah, we do little TurboTax bits. Because they're like, they're at the age that they do taxes and they care about taxes Let's talk about stocks. I like that shit none of us would know what the fuck we're talking about the Dow It goes the thing about the Dow it goes up the down more like the down in my right
Starting point is 01:12:40 Yeah, I'm Joe I'm Joe even for some doubt. Yeah, how you like me down guys like my mask mask deck. Starting point is 01:13:41 They are unbelievably funny. They're very good. They're very, very good. His thing was like he would like also improv a lot of it. Oh really? Yes. He was like known for just going wildly off the cuff for like 20 minutes at a time. Wow.
Starting point is 01:13:56 And then Miranda and his way back to his material. Reading the Miranda right. Just going on. Those are his Miranda rights. His right. That's right. His Miranda rights. Like that. Read on, let's see, special epic slams. What else is it? Compliments, takebacks. Did you pull any cat quotes for the board? I'm still working on that. Oh,
Starting point is 01:14:16 okay. This was like a week ago. Still working. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Think about the podcast, Steven a little bit. I didn't know if the board was still a thing or if we were cutting the board. Oh yeah, the boards are thing. The boards are thing we got. I need the board. I think, hey, fans, please let us know. What straps were retiring? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:36 Yeah, which ones that you would like to keep. And maybe we do, we go through the board real quick, just as a refresher. I just heard a new one. I gotta take a piss. So if you wanna go through the board, I'm gonna as a refresher. I just heard a new one. And I got to take a piss. So if you want to go through the board, I'm going to go take a piss. Starting point is 01:14:58 And that one's going to hit. I was watching this fucking commercial where this lady, she's like, really good about like fitting things into spaces and she pulls up to a guy in the parking lot who's trying to like fit a TV in his car and she goes, you're gonna need another four inches and I was like, pause. You need another four inches.
Starting point is 01:15:16 Rebound it, I was like, this needs to be on there. Well, you know the marketing guy who wrote that line was like, oh God, I hope they keep this. It's gotta go. He goes, this is gonna end up on TI high. That one's pretty good. What was that? Well, Blake, don't show the new one show the old one so we know Dude, there's so many Adam. There's tons. Don't I don't think you ever use that one? Yeah, or this one. I am so glad that I'm able to control my penis now. Yeah, but it's long. It's long. It gives us time to take a sip of our drink. Adam, you got to move through. These are not a... I know.
Starting point is 01:18:14 These are tools. All right. So maybe I take it back and we keep everything. I just keep on. But there's gotta be more. There's gotta be more. Hey, let's save a little bit for the next pod Okay, you know, let's draw
